Re: My 52 GMC Build
there arent check valves in the ports of the hydro boost master cylinder outlets, and air rises, so pressing the brake under accumuator pressure forces the air back and forth until it bubbles out the reservior.
I didnt believe it either, I started with a slap empty system when I changed the rear axle in my 65 with a tahoe hydroboost setup, cracked the ports, dripped, tightened, started engine, stepped on the pedal a few times and had 4 wheel brakes clapping at me. the pedal kicked a few times at first, but after that was smooth as silk. YRMV, but I bet they dont. |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Thanks for the info guys. Joedoh I think your right the peddle was better tonight. I now have a low one push peddle and can hear the brakes move. I bleed the brakes again got a few little bubbles. I will have to wait till I start the motor. I have never dealt with hydro boost before. Then my friend Joe stopped in and confirmed that how my brakes are now is how it should be with a hydro boost without the motor running. So thanks everyone I feel much better tonight. It was driving me nutz. On to the next on the list.

So tonight I got a few little things done so I could put the passenger inner fender on loose. Replaced turbo oil return hose with one good for oil and installed block heater power cable. So I rotated the turbo housing so I can run the new piping along the inner fender. Yup that looks much better than the black flex hoses.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Nice! Where you get your piping and couplers, siliconeintakes.com?
I love that site. They have everything at good prices. |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
that looks nice

Re: My 52 GMC Build
That looks nice! The worst part to me of a HX35 or HX40 is the stupid PITA ginormous snap ring that retains the compressor housing on the center section.

But if the snap ring pops out, it is not so fun.

So for today I started putting the doors together. I got the door latches modified for the door poppers. I'm using bike brake cable and adjusters so I can get the right pull and have the solenoid out of the way of the window.

Oh and Saturday night we where out for dinner. My friend Joe text me and said he left something in my shop for me. This is what I found. :metal:
Attachment 1479395 Attachment 1479396 The license plates for the truck are LOWER50S I have had them for almost 9 years. We had talked about doing this instead of tint. It's perforated vinyl we settled on a design but I had no idea he went and did this. Thanks Joe |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
All looks good Lower50's!
Great idea on the rearwindow! |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Really nice! Where did you get them? They are way nicer than any I've cobbled together from NAPA.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Not so funny thing happened to me today, jumped on my bike to go for a spin down the mountain and surprise....no brakes! Some a-hole stole my brake cables. Lower 50s, you haven't seen any used cables have you? Window treatment looks good, when my buddies stop by all they do is leave me with empty beer cans! LOL

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Got the door poppers all built. The solenoids are mounted to the lower access panel of the door for easy service and no holes in the door. Short vid below pic.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Good stuff. I like the modern aspect of the poppers but not keen on shaved handles. Are you shaving them or just adding poppers?

Great work on the electrical panel. Nice layout and very clean! Those poppers are sweet. Kind of makes me want to put some in my 40 Ford.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
That is very clean! What are the 10 relays controlling?

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Hi Bob, you're build is looking good. I saw a pic posted on Instagram. Are you on there? If you haven't seen it, I'll post it here.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I need to learn a lot about this stuff. Why use relays in place of fuses? If a relay is a switch, what is the difference in powering a box full of fuses with one switch(key switch) or using a bunch of relays with fuse links? I need some quick education. I'm googling what I can but there is nothing specific to auto, or explanations of what and why? I'm kinda dude that needs to know why I'm doing something. Any of your help would be greatly appreciated.
