damn, I wish. I just got back from a week out of town and there's all sorts a crap piled up. Still buying parts for the LS2 though. When I get the time to build it, I won't be waiting on parts to arrive. I think I have almost every piece except the harness and ecu.

You got a great stance on your truck. How much did you lower it?

shrunken66stroker 08-17-2010 12:23 AM

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

don't know the exact measurement, but the front cross member will sit on the ground with the air all the way out. when it's aired up it's about 6 inches off. the pic of it back a couple of pages is with the air out. I can't drive it like that because the tire is sitting on the inner fender.

it's been awhile .....how are we doing?

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Unbelievably busy. Thanks for asking. If I have the time to work on the truck, I don't have the money and when I have the money, I don't have the time. There's a new years resolution in order.

My New Years Resolution is to only work 4 days a week, and the rest of the week is all MINE. :metal:
I hope I can keep it.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Thanks 63short. I'm also raising kids and trying to keep the wife happy. It's a delicate balance but sometimes the wife will just have to be pissed. I'm going to try and get it drivable by summer. Pay no attention to all of the deadlines in my thread that I've blown by. This one's for real.

Thanks Joe. Happy New Year to you too. I'm trying to make time, believe me. I'm about to hit the 4 year mark and I want to drive the old girl before I die. Seriously, I day dream about driving it all the time and can't wait to actually get in and fire it up.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Nice! Thanks for the motivation. I actually spent all day out in the garage cleaning and organizing stuff so I can make some progress next week. I might have enough money to pull the trigger on the transmission I want. I'm planning on getting the new Tremec RS 500 5 speed. Wish me luck. Thanks RAD.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Oh, I'm getting the machine work done on my LS2 right now. I'm going 4.030 bore and standard stroke to make 370 cubes. If I had another grand I could buy the stroker set up and make a 408. I'm still trying to sell my old 350 on craigslist, but no luck yet.

Dont lose it man.....get it together so it will move and you'll be all fired up again. I miss seeing all the fabulous work you do.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

I never loose the desire to work on it. I think if I could start it up and hear it runs some time soon, that would be a huge fire under my arse.

I aired it all the way up and rolled it out of the garage the other day to organize and get ready to tear into it again. It's been far to long since I made any progress. I did get my ls2 block decked, honed, cam bearings installed and rotating assembly balanced last week. I've got to get a cam and oil pan and I'll be ready to build it. I did a test fit with some SBC to LS adapter plates I made. I'm going to have to do a little reaming but it's close. More soon.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Thanks Delmo. Yes, RAD I'm trying to stick to my new years resolution and get something done. I've been shopping for transmissions and I think I've decided on the new Keisler RS500. It's an update to the TKO stuff and the price is a little cheaper. I'll try and update more frequently and not fall off the map again.

That's big praise from a couple 60-66 veterans. I'll see if I can live up to it.
And RAD, change that damn profile pic!

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Seen your headers there.how much clearance do you have between #1 and the header?

shrunken66stroker 02-20-2011 08:29 PM

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Johan, if you're talking about the number 1 exhaust tube and the CPP mount, there wasn't any clearance till I took a 1/4" off of the mount. Now there's a ton because the motor is on a stand about 10' away from the truck. I've got it on craigslist again, because I need some cash for a new trans to go with the ls2.

I got the adapter mounts done and bolted the block in. Then I thought, what if I just put on the heads to see where they'll sit and what if I put the intake and throttle body on and what about the engine cover? And this is where it ended up.

Yes.:metal::metal::metal: Fire it up.:smoke: hell your done.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

It might need a gasket or two, a rotating assembly and a few other parts, but it didn't stop me from taking a mental test drive. Trans and bell housing are on the way.
