Ordered some Seymour Cast Blast paint from summit for the u bolts, cross shafts, and exposed part of the ball joints.

After digging my front coils out and realizing how poor they looked I ordered some 1" front drop coils from brothers. On sale of course for $88 :metal: Looks like my final stance will be 3.4/5 drop. I really want it LEVEL with 0 rake but I guess we will see how it sits once assembled.

Now if the weather would cooperate I could paint a few little pieces and have a rolling chassis.





Also have a 7 hole cluster in my possession and a 97 S10 speedo on the way for a top secret project :smoke:

Thanks Dylan, I saw a few others with the same color combo on their chassis and thought it looked awesome. I had to do it even though no one will see it when the body is back on. I am sure you are familiar with the disease where I just keep going out in the garage and pulling back the drop cloth to stare at it :lol: It looks soooo nice!

Definitely cool I always love seeing trucks with chassis accents because it shows how thorough the owners really are on their look. I'm definitely considering more color than black on the underside of my truck whenever it becomes a frame off truck some century :lol: and yes I'm familiar I had the same disease when my father was painting my truck last summer

No problem I'm not doing much major at this point on my truck just tinkering getting small things fixed that I've neglected

I painted my U bolts and bolted together the rear suspension. It went together well so I threw on some rusty drums and bolted up the rear wheels. I have half a roller now :lol: Nevermind the old diff cover and dust.

The specs so far...

5" rear drop coils from Brothers Trucks
Porterbuilt fully adjustable track bar
20x10 ???? Budnik Famosa. got them used haven't had the bald tires off to measure yet.
275/35/20 currently, look a little too small, I will go with a 295/40/20 when I get the funds.

Wow. That look's cool. I was considering going body color with my trailing arms before switching over to leafs, but that silver is definitely sharp looking. Nice build!

Thanks Gdavis, Yeah all moving parts are powder coated silver. If I were to change anything I would have painted the frame a satin black. Gloss black is a pita!! Congrats on all the work you have done to yours, it looks great!




I will start on the front suspension tomorrow and hopefully get it together by the end of the weekend.:ito:

Wow! Looks great. I'm going to have to step my game up to get even close to that. I plan to do some suspension upgrade later on after I'm driving this thing around, so I'll be sure to consult your build when that time comes. Keep up the good work!

I have been busy getting ready for our second child, a boy who will be born in the next few weeks. Only things I got done to the truck was pressing the lower ball joints in and set the engine/trans and cab on the frame temporarily for tornado/hail storms. Have to keep one side of the garage open for the lady's Honda. I just ordered some headers last night too. Here is a pic of my helper and the cleaned up garage. Enjoy!

Had not seen any posts from you in a while. I guess you have been busy preparing for the new arrival!

I have a question for you. I remember seeing pics that you did most of your floor repair with the cab on the frame. Is that about right? I am thinking about removing the old cab, and putting the "new" cab on the frame to work on it. It would free up space in my garage, and make it easier for me to take parts off the old cab.

What do you think? Should I just continue working on it where it is or put it on the frame?

D it would be much easier off the frame in my opinion. I had to be a contortionist to make some of the repairs while on the frame. But then again I am getting pretty good at doing things the hard way. :mel::mel::dum:

Wow! You're doing it all the "right" way. I've taken a few more shortcuts to get my home/shop truck usable with plans to do suspension upgrades in the future. I'm actually glad I did so I can use your build for future planning. Thanks Dan and keep up the good work. AND DON'T RUN OVER YOUR DOOR!

Yes my family is good, we have some employees who lost everything and a few injuries and one lost a spouse in the tornado. Also a few friends and their relatives who also lost homes and businesses. where I work is just south of the damage path by 1-2 miles and a lot of employees lived right there. Bad stuff happenend to a lot of people and their property but the property is just that and can be replaced. Thanks for checking on us.

No truck progress as of yet but I will be off on daddy leave for a few weeks and I will get some truck time in soon. ;)

That's some heavy news right there, I'm glad at least you guys are alright. I was wondering when you posted about moving your truck over so your wife could park inside if that would hinder your quick access to the shelter? Glad to hear you are doing well and made it unscathed through the tornado. It's one thing to hear it on the news, and entirely more surreal to hear it directly from someone you know.

No little one yet, huh? Well, hopefully soon and then you can get back to the truck! Speaking of which, that sounds like something I need to do! :lol:
