Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
I'm Inlikeflint... I'm new... I'm not sure what year mine is. I bought mine without the front clip, cab, etc... It has six lugs and will only take 235/75R15's or 215/75R15s... I tried putting on 265/75R16's but they rub on the inside of my wheel wells so... that's why I joined (Bone up on some info before I go out and make a spacer purchase).
https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C3ZzPGD9b...0/IMG_4370.JPG My current cabs to haul this bed around are 1996 Suburban 2500 and a 2001 Suburban 2500... and a 1984 ElCamino. |

Here’s my 1986 c30 2wd long bed
350v8 4.10 g80 14bolt ff rear All original sheet metal, original paint All glass is original, passenger vent window broken. Pulled out of a storage yard about 6 months ago now not running. Threw it up on the lift had to put in a new flywheel and starter. Since then it’s been running great and my daily driver all lettered up now for my shop! |

What do they call the longer stepside is it the Longhorn. See one everyday driving to work, fairly good shape 2wd 3/4 ton in a lighter green.

Here's my '85. Started life as a municipal truck in Oklahoma where the PO and his FIL did most of a frame up restoration. 454 from an rv, 295s for rubber front and rear and then PO moved up to Victoria for work where I picked it up. Now I'm slowly finishing what they started. It's somewhat fast, loud and runs on smiles per gallon!

Ive got a number of those trucks in my hoard. The blue plain jane truck is very clean 6 cyl stick only option is power steering, the engine knocks. I have a good 350 to put in it. The Silverado has some rust issues is a 3/4 ton. I went to a estate sale and bought three trucks a 74 half ton a 86 3/4 ton and a 76 ford 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive. Sold the ford for more than I paid for all three. The blue and white 74 is parts. Locked engine frozen trans and locked rear end. I think its been under water? the Tan and brown 3/4 is good the350 engine is good the body has ne rust. Its bent up and I have it taken apart to replace the front cap and doors. I think I will spray bomb paint it like my Silverado make it a 50 footer and install my wrecker sling and winch on it. it has a granny 4 speed. just don't want to do body work and add any filler so will leave the dents and dings.

There was some bubbling and surface rust on the floor pans. I used a wire brush on a drill to remove that. and I already have a set of replacement fenders spray bombed.Attachment 1783270

I have always liked the looks of a short bed, just like the ride better on a long.
