Re: tuba trucks
I came by your shop last year and met Cotton and some others before the party got started. Very cool place you have there.
Don, Martin, Rian and I got together at Don's place in Searcy earlier that week. You guys were on a wrecking yard run Sat. morning when I got there and I left before you got back and the party got started on that Sat. in 2015. I had planned on coming for the 2016 but did not make it. I was at the WELSCO open house at Alltell arena a few weeks ago and saw a man there that looked familiar to me. Then I realized he looked like you, who I've not met. Was that you? I started to go up the guy and say, "are you Clem Daddy?" Great work on all the trucks and cars, thanks for sharing and thanks for keeping some cool rides on the road. |

'52 Flatty is cleeeeeean. Same as the frame.
Orange cab & doors look top notch too. I know it cause I've seen them in person. Shoot, I knew I forgot to put the Impala Christmas lights away. |
Re: tuba trucks
The 52 is looking good and I like the Orange and White combo . What are the colours and are the the factory colours.

This is a well optioned 66 GMC 4-wheel drive which was originally for an employee but it didn't work out. it's got power steering and brakes, a PTO driven winch, electric parking brake, 4-speed granny and a freshly rebuilt 305 V-6. it also has the saddle tank but don't know much about the condition. We straighten her out a bit and through on a 10 footer paint job and sprayed some bed liner too. All in all, not a bad Jimmy.
The plan is to roll her out to the corner for sale and see what happens... |

Tuba has been able to spend a little time on the 52 1/2 ton Flatbed. Got the rebuilt motor in the chassis and the cab is ready for color. Not shown are the doors which were in the booth, curing the primer. Took the other brass door knob like is in my black 65 dually and shinned it up for this truck.

Re: tuba trucks

Doorknob is the winner. |

This sweet 54 deluxe got a complete make-over in 2 and a half months time. Engine overhaul, clutch, bed boards, wheels and tires, grill, interior, stereo… the list goes on. All for a great guy who has owned it since high school many years ago. The deadline was based on driving her in a St. Patricks Day parade on Friday up in northern Missouri. Made it… but just barely, rolled out yesterday afternoon. Very happy customer…

Re: tuba trucks
Morning Clem !!
That is one spectacular finish to the truck. I love the last photo you posted. Kind of summarises the whole Tuba Trucks experience. Well done. |
Re: tuba trucks
WOW, what a truck!
It may not have looked that good new. Completed in two and half months sounds like a record of some kind too. Will look great in any parade but being green it is very fitting for a St. Patrick's Day parade. |
Re: tuba trucks

Back a few pages ago a 65 standard cab, one time Texaco fleet truck, came to us for a redo. A cool older lady owned and was in love with her truck named 'Maude'. There were a few bumps in the road and progress got delayed some but slowly and steadily Maude came back. Now sporting a fresh repaint the cab is bolted to the frame, doors were hung and the inners were installed. Maude is starting to look like a truck again.

Re: tuba trucks
Clem, the '54 is a total work of art!

Re: tuba trucks

The shop has been working on a few 50's models for a while now and we have one of our own in the works. It' been redubbed 'B-52'. A 6' flat bed cut down from 10' with all the running lights, spot light, giant stop light, 3:55 rear gear, dual brake cylinder and whatever else we can find out back. It should be a fun shop truck though driving one is like steering a boat while sitting on a park bench… Here's the second episode of 'B-52' |
