Painted some stuff, and rebuilt the rag joint. The parts are original less the disc, pins, sleeve nut and wave washer that came in a kit. The coupler and flanges are ceramic coated:chevy:
Some gibberish, kind of cloudy. I take a lot of notes, though this little project called for captions. Took me a little while to figure it out, cuz I'm slow:metal: Might help others build one. Doubt I'll ever build another, but who knows. Glad to have rebuilt this as opposed new. The old parts are nice. On a side, I used blue thread locker on their nut where the kit calls for a lock washer. Lock washer don't fit. |

Working on installing some new front speakers, made a new bracket and think about what I did with the old speaker screw. It pays to be organized, it was blasted, painted and stowed in the bag marked dash.

I made some progress buttoning up the rebuilt engine for Old Red. All I have to do is put on the exhaust manifolds and it's ready to plunk down in the engine bay. I went ahead and primed the oil and set the distributor in on #1 so I won't have to crawl in the engine compartment to do that.

Yes I was able to remove the engine with the hood on. I lifted it up and forward and then rotated it so the distributor would not hit the hood and then lifted it enough for the oil pan to clear the core support. It's close but it came out.

Just finished these. This is the second water pump I painted, because dummy didn't think to fit the first one. The GMB "OE" replacement is not an OE replacement (BBC), doesn't quite clear the factory timing chain cover. I'll be most replacements are the same.
They probably figure you can just bend the cover, but I'd rather eat the labor. A four hour lesson learned, because both were brushed. Should have bought the Delco to begin with. It's a lighter pump too. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Swapped out a battery box is all. The bolts can be a real (^( without pulling the radiator. The box I wanted is solid. I don't see any pitting, but know better. Hopefully it suits my rebuild.
Pulled the RH skirt off the same truck recently. Fitted a few skirts on it, practice:lol: I was hoping to use it for the rebuild as well. Nice fender, but too much rust in front. So I'm in the hunt for a RH fender. That or pair of replacements. |

I got the engine fired and run in yesterday and today I put my Billet Specialties Speedways back on and put her on the ground. I went back to the 5 1/2, 7" static drop I had and I like the look a lot more. Ran to the gas station and filled her up and took her for a spin before the rain showed up. Life is good.
