yeah i love the seats in mine and when i stripped mine i found it was very good craftman ship, its incredible work they put into them, eventhough its mass produced, thats what i love about these conversion trucks its mass produced but it quality better than what todays custom shops and resto shps can put out

heres a couple recent pics of mine, before and after shots of the front springs. I had put in a used 4 inch lift but the front springs were junk, not only did they nearly collapse under the weight of the 454, they didn't even have a secondary leaf running the length of the primary, so it looked like they were going to snap. I was discouraged by the lack of lift in the front, and the ridiculous rake with 4 inch blocks and a big new 1 ton spring pack in the rear, so I decided to go with a 6 inch front instead of a beefier 4 inch. It looks lifted now, maybe a hair higher in the front but I'm hoping the new springs will settle down a bit for a nice level look. A little worried how it's going to look towing; some heavy tongue weight will probably drop the back enough to make it look like it's skying the front end when it's really not. Grounds not level in the pictures here, but you get the point.

Looks good. Put some air bags in the rear for towing. Did you use a cab chassis 14 bolt in the back?

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

I had airbags in the back of my 97 dually, but I want to try to get away without them on this truck. It's got a ton of spring to it, plus it sits about 4 inches away from the overloads. I just meant that if the tongue weight settles the rear 3 or 4 inches, and the front is already high, it may look like it's struggling to tow. I hate that look. Might have to go with airbags just to level it, or I could put the plow frame on and add some weight to the front.

Funny, in those pics the first one looks pretty level, doesn't show the ugly rake it had. And the newer ones look like the fronts a lot higher than the rear, but it really isn't.

It was originally a cab & chassis truck, the fleetside pickup bed is the modification, not the rear axle. It's probably the coolest thing about the truck, gets a lot of second looks when people relaize theres dual wheels under there.

Detroit Dan, looks great. Question why do some duallies have fleetside beds while others have dually fenders?

2 diffrent rear ends. one is stock (needs flairs) and the other is Cab and chassis (can fit under the stock bed) cab and chassis are narrower to fit utility beds over them or in this case a fleet side.

To help clarify, dually pickups have a very wide rearend, so the outside tire is outside the bed, which is why they had to add fenders to cover them. Cab & chassis are made with a narrow rear axle to fit under dump bodies, wreckers, etc. Factory never made a fleetside dually pickup like this, but a few people have either done like mine and put a pickup bed on a c&c, or the other option is to put a narrow c&c axle under a fleetside truck. It's a different look, I love seeing people do a double-take when they realize it's got dual wheels tucked under it.
Also, this really works best with a crewcab. Regular cab cab & chassis' are longer. So you either need to shorten the frame, lengthen the bed or go the simple route and put a c&c axle under a regular pickup truck. But, who wants a regular cab anyway? This is a crewcab thread, after all.
