Nice . You use a buffing wheel on a bench grinder ? I have several different wheels but end up using the white one all the time .

Yes indeed - it was a Christmas gift a few years ago - set it up with a Delta stand. Came with two sewn wheels, but they are not of very good quality - looking for something better. It comes in very handy for things, that is for sure..

Did the drivers side inner skirt . Was going to paint the passenger also but noticed a few holes that weren’t suppose to be there . Not rust but mounting holes for something . I may redo the hood latch . Not liking the little pits .

Glad you're going Full Sixty Eight with a White Face grille.Too many restorers just paint their truck one color and skip the White Face '68-Only look.I can understand not wanting to go thru the bother and expense of a second trim color, but the historical inaccuracy always bugged me.

To me that’s part of the charm of the 68s . I have two and I have a line on a third but I’m running low on space .

A while back you were mulling over the idea of thinning your herd. I guess you shelved that idea? Can't say I blame you. ;)

Doesn't the Battery Box attach thru that hole?
I have no idea why a PO would add a half-flattened angle iron to it.
Most POs are crack-pots IMHO.

Exactly.
I have a '68 C/10 Stepside [292] and a '71 GMC Jimmy [350] that are licensed and running.
On the back lot, I have a '67 K/10 Suburban [454] and a '72 K/5 body [0]. Both basket cases and parts donors in varying degrees.

After almost busting the Wiper Knob on the '68 trying to pull the Headlights on without looking [ running the '71 exclusively for 3 months] -- I've thought about moving the '71's Knobs around to match the '68 layout. I could add a 3- Spoke wheel too. A White Face GMC grille might be stretching the motif too far...

I’ve pulled the knob off the wiper switch a couple of times myself .

Not for the Charcoal Cannister on the EEC system?
Bracket for an aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator?
IDK
I stand firmly by my earlier assertion that: ''Most POs are Crackpots.''

Maybe a overflow tank was there. I don't think I've seen mounting the same on any 2 of these .

Was on west coast suburban so the bracket could be for emissions. It’s coming off

Was going to paint the fender and door but found a couple of spots I wasn’t happy with . So by the time I fixed them it was getting to late hopefully tomorrow . So I painted a few small items . Still working on the hoops they were pretty dinged up so another day for them .

The rush is on . The Precision windshield gasket was ok ,wasn’t the exact same as the old rubber but it worked out . Me and the misses did it in about an hour . Blasted one wheel while I had it off to install the inner skirt quick spray and put the NOS hubcap on just to see how it looked . Took it off prior to putting the truck away .

It’s coming together VERY nicely.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

A couple of days ago I filled Otis up with some $6.59 a gallon fuel and noticed my fuel gauge read way past full. I kept an eye on it and it wasn't going down so today I rolled him up to the barn pulled the ground wire from the sender and grounded it out and the gauge went immediately to empty.

I checked the Ohm's thru the ground wire to the gauge and got about 47 Ohms which is ballpark for the resistor across the back of the fuel gauge. Gauge should be good as tested and has always been fairly accurate.
I then cleaned the contact on the grounding wire hooked it back up to the sender and no difference.

Tomorrow I'll pull the sender make sure it's not hung up, and/or check Ohm's to verify it is indeed the sending unit.

About a year ago I experienced a similar issue but after burning a 1/4 tank or so it returned to and has been normal until it reared it's ugly head again, at the time I just wrote it off as a hung up float arm.
