hey Dan, tank is aluminum I got from PerformanceOnLine, bolted right in (after I slightly straightened/squared tail end of frame) no crossmember to remove.....
wheels are stock, cleaned and painted with rustoleum rattle can:metal: :sunrise red I think it was; rather gawdy but going for that hot rod look I guess..........killer bullet lug nuts. Was thinking of one of those red sparlkdy steering wheels?...maybe not..........but yea, bring the outside in.

Thanks for compliments.
I'm not real happy with the low gloss black (long story, backyard job, yada yada)
Adjusted the valves yesterday..........motor runs good.
Best part of the whole deal is this forum and the fact that I have done all the work myself (except for machining block).
What's new with that beauty of yours?

Thanks for the nice compliment .

My truck is gathering dust, unfortunately. We're hosting a dual baby shower for my daughter and my daughter in law. BOTH are pregnant and due in June and July so I've spent every spare minute the last couple months painting the new nursery, re-landscaping the backyard, yada, yada...

Well, I didn't actually do anything to my truck other that look at it, but got this pic of my front suspension from Scott's along with UPS tracking numbers. I should have it as soon as UPS can get it from Cali to GA.

Right on Rusell! What are the plans with paint for those parts? Paint or powder coat? What coil overs did you go with?

Paint ? powder coat ?
I agree with OrrieG, it looks really good naked!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Thanks Guys, yea, I'm excited about it. The coil-overs are Aldens. Apparently those in the pic are not mine since Justin said mine are coming directly from Alden. I'll probably just paint it since that won't cost anything. It's so beautiful like it is I almost hate to think about covering it up by putting it under my truck where it won't be seen. Did I just say my suspension is beautiful? Only a car person would think like that I guess, LOL.

BTW, anyone interested in a straight axle with disc brakes and a CPP p/s setup for cheap?

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I might have been but I'm imagining "cheap" wouldn't be do cheap shipping that pile from Georgia to SoCal.

Just out if curiosity, how much is " cheap"?

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I want to sell the complete axle and springs, everything I remove. I'd like to get about half of what I paid just for the p/s and disk setup, which was near $1k. It's got new king pins and bushings, and new spring bushings. It's also got six degree caster shims that seem to make it track better. This whole setup has less than 1K miles on it and the rotors don't even look used. I doubt it would be worth shipping it to the west coast as it's costing $175 shipping for my new Scott's setup and I suspect it would be more than that for the axle and parts. I haven't made any effort to sell it on the local CL yet.

I have no build thread *yet* but after two years of waiting to have a proper work space I have my engine in its home.

Next is trans cross member (modifying the original) and then brakes.

Russell that's outstanding! That will be a great summer project for sure. What are your plans for the rear?

When I ordered my front end I called Justin and told him how I use my truck and about how low I wanted it to be, and bought what he suggested. I did specify a bolt in and no bags. At the moment my plans are to get the front end installed and drive it some. Then probably next year after I enjoy it for a while I'll call Justin and see what he recommends for a rear suspension upgrade that doesn't involve major frame mods, and probably just go with his suggestion again.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I got my bolt-in from Scott's today for my 57. It is a beautiful piece of work but I don't think it will be as easy to install as the ones for AD's. I have re-read Katrina-10's install thread and compared it to mine and it does look like I'll have to remove the front clip. It looks like on an AD the entire suspension and cross member is out side of the inner fenders, but on a TF the cross member passes above the frame so the inner fenders will need to be trimmed. I might try to remove fenders and inner fenders individually and leave the core support in place so as not to have to open the a/c and drain the radiator. It's going to take a little longer than I had hoped.

Ordered some ac hose fittings and figured out the temp sender is bad. Sure am glad it was not the gauge was not looking forward to R&R the bezel.

Is the install going to be in your build thread (link??)? You might look at removing the radiator shroud, grille, surround, valence with the inner fenders and fenders. Radiator support and rad stays and you don't have to fight the hidden bolts from the fender to the grill surround.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I can take it apart like I did it four years ago when I first got it and leave the radiator support in place so that's what I'll do. It will even be yard drivable by doing it that way. I'm resigned to the fact that I'll have to remove the inner and outer fenders now but after looking at this pic I'm wondering if I am going to be able to get it in place with the engine in.
