Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Obviously garage kept and rarely driven. It'll be fine.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I wasnt aware of the rust issues with "Toyota" truck frames, but I have had several Jeep CJs and wranglers and when you look at one of them, you better look the frame over 1st. Your truck looks good to go.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Yotas had severe frame rust issues . The 03 I have it was replaced under a recall in 2012 . It really crusty now again not rot but I’m going to pull the bed and sandblast as well as I can epoxy prime and have it wool waxed .

Gave my old low-hour mower to my new neighbor. We went to drought tolerant plants years ago, and I was looking to give it away.
That turkey looks tasty! We have a boneless leg of lamb roasting for dinner. Baby potatoes and Brussel sprouts will accompany it. Yummay! |

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I picked up a Stihl electric mower with charger and battery for $135 on Craigslist for the dog area.
Older dude was going grassless and its looks brand new. Its never even been wet. Now I have two batteries, two chargers, a blower, a string trimmer, and the mower that all use their biggest 300 series batteries. The Walker mower wont fit in the dog area. Scalped two weeks ago. Fertilized last week. Now Im watering the rain shadows under the Junipers. Going to be 72 on Tues then back to the 40s and 50s. |
Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I was alone for Easter this year. I did yardwork, got the rest of my Christmas lights down, and took care of a few other things that have been looking at me. Saturday I took a ride down to the seafood restaurant and got myself a couple crab cakes to cook for Easter. Mmm Mmm GOOD!

What I did yesterday, in the rain, was go cross-county to look at some chestnut floor sleepers (super heavy joists) from a barn a guy was selling. They came from a barn that had been torn down. My friend (Don) and upholstery guy has a garage he built from a dismantled log house that needs some wall repairs. A couple 12' lengths were probably not good enough to use when he built it. The corner where they interlock with the back wall is really bad and I had been figuring to re-enforce that with steel.
These chestnut pieces are 15'+ and he had 7. He wanted $100@ which was a killer deal and the reason I got there ASAP. I called Don to see if he could get on over, what they cost, and to make him an offer for all 7. He came and gave $500 for all. Now I can do a proper repair off both walls...and hopefully have some leftover for me :D The rotted area is behind the flag Attachment 2348026 Attachment 2348027 Attachment 2348028 Quote:
For me, I'm about the same distance from the Chesapeake Bay as you were from the ocean. And that's where a lot of seafood comes from. But farther inland we have some of the best fresh seafood markets. I'll be moving farther inland, closer to or in the mountains. My daughter and her family are moving back from Little Rock to Harrisonburg, VA. So maybe somewhere closer to there. |

I built a bathroom door over the last couple of mornings for the project. I donated a set of antlers for handles. Saloon style , the way they open. |
Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I started selling carpenter bee traps this past weekend. I sold one on Saturday. A whopping $8 sale, YIPPEE!! The buyer was an older guy and we had a nice talk. He's into property management and real estate for apartments and condos. He went to work for a big real estate firm that was branching out into this area and he helped get them going. The franchise has a new owner he doesn't want to deal with, so he's about to start back up on his own. I may be getting some work through that now.
But for now, he called and said his electrical engineer friend will be calling me about a project he has. He has a school bus he's converting into an RV. He told this friend about some of the work I've done that came up in our conversation and the bus guy was impressed. He wants me to do some special trim work in this crate . It sounds interesting and I like doing interesting jobs Quote:

I don't imagine I need to say this, but be damned careful and have the upper level braced twice as good as you think it needs. Be terrible if it came down on you. |
Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I have a '67 Camaro too, that I have been restoring for a "while" now. I replaced the entire trunk floor a couple years ago and now that I am close to finishing the exterior repairs and getting ready for paint, I need to finish up the under side. I was laying on a creeper under it last weekend, trying to clean and grind welds and I was wet and dirty enough to give in and dig out the rotisserie to spin it on it's side for this work. I removed the entire drive train intact on the subframe. I had rebuilt/restored all of that several years ago and it needs nothing but a good clean from all the bodywork that has taken place. Was trying to avoid getting in this deep, but I guess I'm "all in" now...

I went to the gym this morning and walked on the treadmill for an hour, then I stopped at the store and got a couple doughnuts and a qt of milk. Polished it off before I got back to the house.

I propped my post & beam barn up on temporary posts & beams inside, cut the posts of the barn off, poured stem walls 32'' offset from where the barn stood, and moved it over onto the new stem wall. That had a second floor with oak flooring. That took some forethought and planning, but it went very smoothly, without a hitch. I like a challenge |

Spent a couple days with the boss doing some hiking ar Petit Jean park in Arkansas. Enjoy yhe quietness and for me the.hills like i grew up with in eastern pa. Not the flatness of the gulf coast. Used the Tacoma to see how it goes for long distance rides. Its ok. But like bigger trucks better. Need that V8 power baby! :mm:

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Well welcome to Arkansas Bill. Petit Jean State Park is beautiful isn't it?

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Last night I took the snow plow off the Wrangler and put the regular bumper back.
Midwest folks don't swear at me if I jinxed it and we get another dump of snow. |
