Dumb question but was the dash pad damaged? I only ask because I've gotten packages that were all smashed up and the contents somehow survived.

I always get a sick feeling when I see a smashed box on the doorstep.

Yeah it’s got some decent damage even tho the pad is really soft and flexible.

My dad (85) gave me a bucket of misc sockets and stuff when I was up visiting. I didn’t really want it I already have so many extras they are also stuffed in plastic containers. But I knew it made him happy to give me something.

I separated the sae and mm this morning. Actually quite a few decent sockets in there. Need to hone it down some more and toss the crappy ones.

Red circle = 10mm!

I guess if the driver can't have nice stuff, neither can you. That really stinks. I see that there is a place in the 714 area code that carries old vehicle parts. Maybe I'll take a drive next week, if they have counter sales.

Holy cow!

You just struck gold.

But they will probably all be MIA in a week. You know how 10mm sockets are. :waah:

30? My youngest son is older than you. He's infesting a room at home yet, and hasn't mowed the lawn in over 15 years. Good on you!

I had a house with a big lot. Nothing like a half acre but it felt like it when I mowed it. It had Saint Augustine grass. That stuff is thick. I had it because it was tough grass and I had 2 really big dogs that would tear up a lawn.

I don't miss mowing grass at all. Not even a little bit.

I sold my riding mowers 25 years ago and have been push mowing ever since. My lawn is so cut up it takes just as long riding as it does pushing. I enjoying mowing my grass. I even mow the strip across the road. It gives my mind a chance to clear or work a thing out. It's not like it's hard work. More like aerobic exercise. I figure it's one small thing that helps keep me fit. And I never mow wet grass. I was taught it's bad for the grass. It's obviously harder on the mower and the operator, and doesn't leave as good of a job done.

Reminds me of when I was working. I went to this vacant house and the old guy next door came out and was complaining that no one cut the grass at the vacant place. He just kept going on and on about it.

The vacant house had a yard that was about 20x20 feet. Very small.

So I said "If it bugs you that much then why don't you just cut it?

He got all mad and stomped back into his house.

Seriously. It would take 5 minutes to mow that grass but he would rather complain to anyone that came around about it.

I prefer not complaining to complaining enough that I'd rather do something about it than complain. I take walks on my road and the only negative feelings I get while walking comes from the litter. I pick it up. No adopt-a-hiway sign giving me credit. My road is litter free for a couple miles and that's all that matters to me.

I usually enjoy push mowing the yard but a few sections of my yard are wide blade grass and that stuff stays wet forever it seems. Always clogs up the mower and slows me down. I still have to push mow a couple spots due to the slope of the drainage ditch next to the house, but overall it cut my time down more than half.

110?! Drink plenty of water. There should be some hot deals today

Nothing wrong with riding mowers. I had a pair of John Deere 110s from the '60s and a model 80 dump trailer. I also used to mow the meadow next to me. My neighbor claimed he bought the land so I stopped mowing it. My place is a small patch broke up into smaller patches. I cut once a week using a mulching mower. I cut it a notch higher across the road.

This was at Carlisle Trucks this weekend

Oh man I remember those hot days at Pomona. That asphalt does not help. You could feel the heat radiating up from it.

I had a lot of good times at the Pomona Swap meet. Got a lot of good deals too.

But the two I missed out on were a 69 Ford Ranger SWB, black with burgundy upholstery and a factory 390. It had all the bells and whistles. For $5000. It was in perfect condition but I just didn't have the money. The other was a 66 Charger with a 426 hemi. Same story. It was really nice and the guy only wanted $6600 for it.

I don't even want to think what they would go for now.

 One of my sons has a green thumb, and is raising a garden. Squash is coming in, and there have been some lurkers... My MiL planted vegies in their back yard many years ago. What with the leaves, she didn't spot one zucchini until it was three feet long. It would have tasted and had the texture of wood, so it sat on their kitchen counter on display for awhile. So many zucchini that my FiL just refused to eat them anymore. They were giving them to all the neighbors, too.

Sort of the same green on JD equipment I worked on in the mid-'70s. One could almost get the whole thing apart with a 9/16" socket. Then they went to those lumpy 12 sided bolt heads. Can't defeat a farmer, they'll go buy those sockets, too! I can understand their reasoning, though. We still found some truly sick "repairs", in the fields. Fun story- we got called out to help a farmer get his tractor started, in early spring (Idaho). The boss got out the ether (diesel engine "crack"), spritzed in a "healthy" dose (at which the farmer ran back a bit), and cranked the engine up. A plug of ice came out of the exhaust pipe! Next time, leave the rain cap on, it's there for a reason! I will say that the boss was lucky to not have stuff blow up in his face, when using ether starting fluid. He'd done the same thing on big diesel truck tractor engines, in cold weather.

Thanks guys. Definitely a working man’s truck. It’s got an air compressor and hose reel mounted up against the front cross box, and a GM accessories under rear seat storage bin for extra tools and such. It really came out pretty nice all things considered and it’s got a TON of tools on it.
