Does anyone have pics of NBS seats in these old trucks? Or might someone be able to point me in the direction of their builds for them? I'd love to update the interior in mine...

Newest acquisition. 1990 GMC 3+3 3500 with 5.7L TBI. Straight truck with minimal surface rust. Very hard to find where I live. Interior is bone stock, I think this was a military vehicle at one point. Previous owner had a plow on the front and butchered the wiring harness. Currently re-furbishing the truck to stock condition and will plan on a mild lift with 33" tires in the future with a full re-paint. Some beautiful trucks in this thread for motivation ;)

I just re-wired and replaced all the lights on my tailgate. I just went to Oreillys and bought them off the rack. They had black mounts with red lights. They were $5-6/ each. They look great

wlakerb I hope you keep it stock, there is a blue & white 86 4x4 just like yours on 21 of this thread that I think is one of the sharpest rigs around.

Agreed, that is a really sharp looking crew. The game plan as it stands currently is to leave the patina for now and lift it 2-4" with some new BF's. Thankfully its as close to stock as a truck can be and will stay that way.

Im fixing and clean interior now. I found a nice dash pad close to me so its getting there!

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but not new to Chevy Trucks. Just got mine back on the road again after 6+ months of building / rebuilding. 1991 V3500, 496 Gen 6 BBC, 4L80E, single serpentine belt conversion off a 1995 - pretty much a wood / rock hauler / kid bouncer. I love it!

Where did the 496 BBC come from? Is it a TBI?

ecbert 06-21-2014 02:47 PM

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

Yes, it's still a TBI engine.

I built it, the block is a gen 6 454 from a 1997 Suburban, the heads are stock 1991 TBI heads, that I added SST swirl polished stock sized intake valves and 1.88" exh valves, the bottom end is SCAT externally balanced .030" over with the HO 454 hyd roller cam.

4" spring lift front / block lift rear with 33's on stock steel wheels.

So you basically stroked the 454 to get the 496?

1968vetL-71 06-21-2014 08:05 PM

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

Yes lots of aftermarket stroker kits.
454 bored .060, add a 4.25 in stroke crank with some 6.385 rods = 496 BIG CUBES

Rode in a few of these monsters. :smoke:

is it the stock TBI and if so how did you get it to work with that motor, details thanks in advance.

Yep, bone stock TBI. I put new pump / meters in each tank, changed the fuel filter because it was plugged and have had no trouble. The TBI that's on it was off a 1993 454 simply because it had 83k miles and the one on my truck had 487k, yes almost half a million miles when I bought it. Of course with these heads it runs out of steam about 5000 then again so does the TBI system. The picture on the right was what it looked like the day I bought it. The cam is pretty small for this engine but then again it needs to be in order to move that barge down the road. Basically I tried to build a copy of GM's HT502 but on a budget...

I would love to see some more pictures of your truck, which brand of lift did you go with? When you say 33in. tires are you referring to 305/70/16 or 285's or which size? Looks great thanks!

How's the power and mileage with that motor?
