I left it on over lunch and then spayed windex on it and it wiped off clean. Took years to get the nerve to try it and an hour to do it ???!!! |
Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
if you have a clear coat may be no problem but it is possible if someone is doing it over old paint it may be disastrous. try it on something first to make sure it is safe to use on what ever you are going to apply it to. I can remember the first time with caustic soda(same thing) 50 years ago ago my old boss asked to was down all the bay doors at the gas station where I worked. he said put a little caustic soda in the water. why not put a little more in. by the time I got done the paint was peeling off at the start. I have used it as a stripper, it works well to stain cherry dark but one just has to to know when to stop it (neutralize) and vinegar is the substance to use. just spray a little of that oven cleaner on a piece of cherry and watch how dark it can go
it is a chemical so just watch what you do with it. it won't hurt plastic. just be safe ron |

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Thanks, I have only seen 1 panel (63-66 saw it in passing?)around and come to think of it no 60-66 burbs at all. Next time I am around I will stop and inquire about the panel and let you know. Funny thing is I just happened to open the newspaper one day and saw an ad for a 66 impala wagon and they mentioned a 63 burb was also for sale. and here we are go figure. Even cooler, my awesome wife was all about it.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
I was searching the pre-divorce photos looking for an image of the 1960 Chevy Carryall (that’s what the family called it) that served as the family sedan for my ex-inlaws. This is the only photo of it I could find. It’s taken from the back seat of an immaculate original 1948 Dodge sedan. The year was 1969 and the photo was taken when I was in Vietnam.
Not much to see, other than the fact they had one. I was white over blue until my father in law painted it all white. He also had a Mack bulldog hood ornament that he couldn’t decide best placement for. So it was first mounted on the front of the hood, then the center, then the rear, and finally ended up on the roof visor over the center of the windshield! And of course none of the holes were ever filled. They just stuck up and got rusty. It also received a “pin stripe” down the side of electrical tape. About 3 days later it shrunk up and fell off, leaving a nice sticky trail behind that remained in place until he sold it some time later. It was powered by a 283/Powerglide and they drove it everywhere for years. Eventually he replaced the tailgate doors with the barn door style. That's about all I can remember of it. http://imageshack.us/a/img839/8453/ly1a.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img802/1306/mtsl.jpg |

Here are two Subs from Israel. The first, although currently in a sad state and is being restored as I write this, had served originally as an Ambulance. Being that you simply cannot find these classic service vehicles in Israel, the current owner decided upon restoration to the original spec as an Ambulance:
