Sorry I dropped the ball responding to your reply. I called VA about this and he kept asking why I wanted a Gen 4 for a pick up. He was saying it would be great for a burb or van but to much air for a pick up so I went for the Gen 2 which should be quieter. As a side note ,I read somewhere that their brackets could use the original mounting holes so I welded in studs. If not I will just wack em off and go from there.

getting this thread back to the top.....got some new custom made moser axles (they are a great co. to do business with) they are really short:metal: and fit awsome.....
also i cut up the new ART arms, so they'ld fit the new V3 DM design...and bolted up the uppers arms too....next week ill get the rack installed and hopefully have the steering linkage hooked up too... here are the pics

looking good, gotta love the look of the short axles just means wide rubber, it also looks tlikethe two of us got some frontt suspension put together, way to go.

got the front of the frame notched for the rack.... the rack fits fine, but the low mount alt. hits the the steering part of the rack...so a adaptor bracket is gonna be made to locate the alt. out and clocked at about 20* so it'll fit without hitting anything.....

also if anyone wants to know how these builds go with parts comeing in almost everyday, this is about 2weeks of boxes stacked up, and most of the boxes have boxed inside ......:lol:

Man, looks like it's gonna be a chore routing the steering linkage from the column to the steering box!

its gonna be about a 45* angle from the steering column to the rack, the manufacture says that 65* or less is fine, so we should be fine;)

Can you tell me a little about how you did your notch? What size pipe, etc. I bought a bolt on notch but thinking of sending it back and doing this instead. I was thinking of boxing the inner frame for strength. Do you think it needs it?

sure, i used a 4" ID pipe with a .125" wall....i cut 3" (or the width of the bottom of your frame), at a slight angle (cause these frames do a joggle, where the notch needs to go)....once i had the round peice, i cut it in half so i had two half circles....found the centerline of the half circles, and matched it up to the centerline of the rearend(post 89 kinda shows this)....made a mark around the half circles, cut them out, then weld in the notch...
as for boxing the frame there, it cant hurt.....do i think its strong enough and safe without boxing it, yes......

ok, i got the new alt bracket fabbed up....it spaces the alt out about 1 5/16" and clocks it 20* to clear the rack......also had to remove the ear off the alt. (since it was clocked)... also got some new sheetmetal hung, the fit on the front fender is good (little hole enlargeing, to get proper gaps), and the door is decent.....it will require a bit more massaging, welding, and cutting (more on this later).....but it cames with the aftermarket panels, i guess.....
also got some bed panels in too....the rear cross sills are polished stainless steal (still have the protective film on in the pics tho) and the bedsides are original ones (from the boys at stoked out in rockwall TX)
the one center cross sill (goes between the tires) is too long ,do to the rear end being narrowed, so it will need to be trimmed.....also the bed wood will need to be raised a bit to clear the rearend houseing, and the tubs widened, but that was planned on anyways.....here are a few pics...
