Umm I do not htink there are ANY chrome platers in town. The ones who say they do it ship it to CA, I started on it yesterday and will be finishing it Monday/tues depending on time frames at the powdercoaters

I pretty much did, I had a lot of parts since Sept but have had no itme to even think about getting to it. Today and the next couple days the suspension will be done, then Ill have to do wheels and tires as the 30yr rubber is not holding up well HAHAHAHA. After that it will be sheet metal in the front! :metal:

I got a new toy on Friday from my girlfriend!!! :metal::metal:
No no no not for the bedroom!!! you guys are dirty!!! This one is MINE all MINE HAHAHA
It took me another quick direction with the build so Ill have updates later tonight. Have been working like crazy the last few days inbetween sleep and work!!

So, disassembling my truck ended up taking longer then anticipated. Everything was SUPER dirty, and baked on nastiness.

Not to mention I came home on Friday and found a box for me in the garage!!!

I quickly assembled it and spent the weekend trying to get everything back in shape.

I bead blasted my control arms, found out grinding the grease off first really speeds things up on getting them to bare metal

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/o...p/IMG_1126.jpg

I bought some silver caliper paint and painted my calipers after cleaning them off a bit. They will at least look a bit better till I get some nice disc brakes... :metal:

Tomorrow I am going to try and get the control arms powder coated and get her all back together by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Did you get that at Harbor Frieght? I saw one just like it the other day. How does your compressor hold up with it?

Looks good!
How is your blaster for dust? is it sealed up good?
I have a small one and it makes the shop very dusty.
Thinking about getting one like you have.

coming along nice, that blaster makes me jealous, now that i am no longer building rods for a living, i do not have the luxury of having one anymore, i guess it is time to invest.

It is sealed up fairly well. It does get blow by where my Dry vac is connected but other then that it is not bad. i have aluminum oxide in it which is black and makes an extra mess. I am going to try and find sand to put in it instead. and maybe a little more course.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

You might want to do what I did with mine. Build a little platform out of 4x4s to put under the cabinet legs and bolt them down to it. This raises the cabinet up that extra few inches, and keeps you from having to bend over so much to use it. It will really save your back if you spend any time blasting.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

between getting off work late and what little time i have to let my compressor fill back up every 5 minutes I made some progress today!!

Actually started on a bit of reassembly!!!

Oh, and Im waiting on 4 packages from Co, 4 from Ca, 1 more from Ca, and one from Reno... Oh the brown goddess needs to hurry up!!!

Heres also how i trimmed my lower control arms. I left enough metal on there to have a secure and sturdy steering stop!

I have seen some people put the bolts on the balls joint in the other way with the nuts on top? not sure what is correct? I guess the bolts threw would have more of a chance in messing up the rubber dust boot.
Vegas are you going to tack weld your control arm shafts? I have been searching for this answer also?
Sorry for all the questions..

No, I had no intentions too. I have heard of people tack welding both the lower ball joint and control arm shafts. I think I will be just fine

So why did you have to trim your lower control arms?

And it looks great once you cleaned it up.

Can't wait to get mine to that stage.

Everything I have read is people do it for clearance. They cut the bump stop off when lowering the truck.

To bad the valve stems and lug nuts that were suppose to be included in one of the boxes were some how left out! GRRR

Tomorrow my Tires will be here.

I borrowed a couple of pics from Ctrow. These tires and wheels are exactly the same size as I bought.
