That truck looks perfect. Great build post. That guy still has your old 30. He changed some things up on it this year. I just seen it at the pittsburgh world of wheels show. Its the first one in the pic. I thought I had a better pic of it.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
That's cool to see something I built that long ago is still out being enjoyed. Thanks for the pic.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
If I come across a better pic I'll send it 2 you. He changed the wheel color and put a cad in it this year. It still was sporting the red steelies & small block last year. Really cool car. I talked to him when he first got it that must have been 4 yrs ago or so.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Sold that thing on 11-19-2004 and he had it shipped to the east coast.
It was a fun car. I remember taking it to San Francisco flying down hwy 101 like a go cart and all through the city......good times..... Thanks again, Jesse |
Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Awesome truck! How much prep and planning went into it before you actually started on it? I would imagine a lot for it to go off this smoothly and clean to boot.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
LOL. Well Im thinking my planning stage will be much longer. If I don't give myself enough time to think I get confused. Super nice truck the frame work was as clean as Ive ever seen.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Sweet ride Rat, time to pick your brain. Besides plain wick'd coolness, what are the performance gains to the dropmember install? Cornering, smoother ride, and how is the manual rack in low speed turns, parking, at speed? Thanks, and again amazing build, are you done, or is there another chapter?

I still have plans to repaint the truck inside and out along with upholstery. Just having fun driving it for now. Thanks for all the cool comments, Jesse |

No thank you Jesse for posting your build, taking pictures and posting them takes time when your focused on the build. Yours has been one of the best and most realistic builds I've found. That coil over drop member sounds perfect....I'll be watching Nat's site for it. Enjoy the drive, Mike |
Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Dude I had no idea you swaped wheels and tires. Absolutley nailed it, amazing.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Yes I've been driving it to work a lot and a few long country drives on the weekends. I found a few hidden rust spots under bondo that I made some patch panels for and fixed, still have some more body work to do. And I'm getting a set of the new frame stiffiners from Nate that I need to install.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Man that sounds like a fun trip, I won't be ready for March but maybe the November goodguys show. I would probly drive down and stay the night in Santa Clarita then jump on the 10 into Pheonix the next morning. I need to head down south anyways to go on a job search... Thanks for the invite bro

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Well i got the new Porterbuilt "Truss" inner support system installed today. The system fits perfect and braces up the front solid.
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ffeners005.jpg I took off the steering rack and supported the engine with a jack. Then took out the old style stuff, there was some tight spots but all in all it went smooth maybe 3-4 hours total. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ffeners003.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ffeners001.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ffeners006.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ffeners010.jpg http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ffeners011.jpg Thanks Nate... |
