Nice truck RatRide....I like the stance.

Thanks! With out cutting the front drop springs it sat perfectly level. But with the round wheel wheels, visually it appeared to be lower in the rear. By cutting a half coil, it dropped about an inch, giving it just a little bit of rake. I my opnion it was well worth the extra effort. :chevy:

In fact, I wouldn't replace the whole rocker.

CCP kit -springs, shocks & swaybars
Front- 3' lowing springs with 1/2 coil cut, so it's probably 4' total
Rear- 4' lowering springs with 2' drop blocks, 6' total

How does the truck ride after being lowered?

How much suspension travel do you have in the rear being that low?

Thanks.

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66

Thanks!!!
It was restored about 2-3 years ago. Not show quality but excellent daily driver quality, with the major stuff like motor&trans and body&paint already being done. I like wrenching, and can do bolt on parts but when it comes to the major stuff I'll pay a perfessional.

In my opinion the springs have a perfect spring rate. Not too stiff, but stiff enough, along with the sway bars to give good corner handling. The shocks that came in the kit aren't very good though. The front tends to have a floaty bounce. I'm really picky when is comes to my suspension and handling as I tend to do track days with my other cars, but this truck is my daily driver. I wanted a more comfortable, but fun ride that I can zip around corners. I didn't want to put a ton of money into it, that's way I bought the kit. If I had to do it over agin, I don't think I woud recommend this kit. You can probably piece together your own kit with better shocks, and better swaybar endlinks/mounts for around the same price. I'll probably upgrade to better shocks in the future.
Theres about 1 inch travel in the front after shaving down the new bumpstops a little. In the rear I have zero travel it's riding on the new bump stops, as I did not c-notch.

A super nice truck!!!!! If you get bored down the road later, a little more two toning (white or maybe a light silver-ish) would take this truck to another level!
But, it looks fantastic either way!!! :metal::metal::metal:

Thanks man. I actually really wanted to find a white truck, but this was pretty much exactly what I wanted...short bed, big window, non-step side, V8... and at the right price. I think the PO was trying to match a stock GM color, but as you can see in the pics it's not, this is exactly how it looks in person. And if I had my choice I wouldn't have put so much metallic for the charcoal interior. :waah:

I'm still super stooked on it!!!!!:metal:

Thanks. No idea what the total drop is. Completely forgot to measure it. Its on cut springs all around. Relocated shock mounts and pie cut upper control arms up front. Small C notch and 2" drop blocks out back.

In truth it rides really nice but the suspension is almost maxed out up front. You can feel it on big bumps. Gonna have to come back up a little.

I found this truck that has a good stance.

Would any one know if it belongs to a forum member?
Or could tell me wheels and tire size info?
Or looks bagged, so info on that?

Thanks

That looks way too low to be a ststic drop. The back -maybe, but the front would require major modification.

Here's mine all in primer now. 4-6 drop. I'm going to have to notch the rear as it bottoms out on hard bumps.

It's the same in both pictures, I had completed the suspension, then disassembled and painted the truck this winter.

Mine is the exact same shad of red,but yours is newer and nicer of course! My accent stripes are silver,my wheels are Coy's,and I have front bumper guards too. Upon first looking I did a big double take though.

I used 2 1/2" dropped spindles and 2" dropped spring with one coil removed and the rear I used a 5" dropped spring with a 1" lowering block, Gabriel shocks for an 1981 El Camino all the way around.

Front tires are 215/75/15 on a 15x7 rim
Rear tires are 255/70/15 on a 15x8 rim

Thank you and I hope this helps.....

Good looking rides everyone.

Could someone lowered say 2/4 or 3/5, or 4/6 take a measurement from level ground to the wheel lip.

Thanks.

A more accurate measurement would be from the wheel well lip to the center of the hub. Tire sizes will make a difference in your answers otherwise.

forestb 02-27-2014 12:26 PM

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66

From a previous thread 14 in. from wheel well to center of hub in the front is a 2.5 in. drop. In the back it will depend on whether you have a step side or fleet side sense the wheel wells are not the same height.

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66

235's don't sound to wide to me but 65 does seam a little short. I would find a truck from the sight that you like the look of and ask that person what they have. If you ask 10 people on here what tire size to use you will get 10 different answers.

The picks i see on here i like. I dont want to put the tires i have on it if they look to wide and short.
