I have a 1964 C-10 long bed and want to also put a metal floor. Did the 78 also come in a long bed?

thanks flips for the comment!

I haven't been on in awhile, and I haven't got much done on the truck lately! I've let life get in the way and have been in neutral! the wife don't like here job, I don't care about mine, it pays the bills! but after talking with the wife the last two week! we are going to move up to Tulsa, ok. about 1 1/2-2 hrs. away with better jobs and her family lives up there around income tax time! I've got a few friends that are going to help with getting a job and a house up there for me when that time comes! its just where we live now its getting harder to find any good jobs! if I could move now I think the wife would start packing!

I did get my passenger side rear fenderwell widened put didn't get pics of it, I will this next weekend! i'm still going to work on the truck, its just around feb.-march i'll be moving!!

good to see ya back chad, hate to here about the job trouble but totally understand about not having a lot of work in the area, just south of us is the carpet capital, Dalton ga. and they were hit extremely hard, lots of people out of work and plenty others having to take jobs way below their skill levels just to feed their families. hope the move will be exactly what yall need, plus it will be good to be close to family.

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

thanks flips, I for one am one of those people that have taking a job way below my skill level! but you got to do what you can for your family and hope everything works out, the move will be exactly what we need!

thanks coulter, yes I have! we are moving to Tulsa in feb., that way we have the time and money! my lead at work, his step-father has rental houses up there and said he would give me his number when we move up there, he told me; he's got a nice 3bedroom, 2bath, 2 car garage, 4 car carport, fenced yard front and back for not much more then i'm paying now and is willing to sell it too! :metal: and he has offered to help me get on at his brother job, running a brake press for $16hr., my wifes dad also works in a metal shop and offered to help me with a job for $15-18hr., he runs a cnc burner for $15-18hr., all-in-all its like a win-win to move! just wish I had the money to move now so I could pay things off here and just move!

any ways heres a few pics of what I did this weekend, stripped them down, did a lil hammer and dolly, and started to put some filler on, but it was to hot for the filler and it started to dry out in like two minutes! so I stopped for this weekend and will sand it down and go over the rest this next weekend, then i'll start the other tub!

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

well, its been about a month since my last post on here, life got in the way! but just want to let you all know that I haven't got much work done, lol! I did order a few parts in the last two weeks that I really needed to move forward like: smoked big back glass from brotherstrucks.com, an engine lift kit so I can pull the motor (hopefully for the last time), engine cradle so I can roll it around, and my raptor bedliner kit! everything I ordered came in this week, the bedliner took the longest to get here almost two an half weeks I should have looked first to see that the guy was on vacation before buyin it from him off ebay! the glass looks great solid one piece factory looking, not like the laminate between two pieces of glass from lmc! the engine cradle need to be modified a lil the holes in it needed to be bigger and i'm going to weld a piece of square tubing to the backside to stiffen it up some and add two triangle gussets to it two for piece of mind! I also bought a inline air pressure regulator coupler and male fitting so it can be attached to air tools easily and disconnected from the tool and also the air hose, it will help when I spray epoxy primer and the bedliner! and also a new hammer and dolly kit with fiberglass handles with a case the wooden handle ones I had some broke and some got misplaced

damn, now I just need to figure out this picture problem and I will post some pics!! pics a worth a million words

dude, forge ahead!
Don't sweat the small stuff!! LOL!
I cant seem to post anything, but instead of trying, I am workin on gettin sh#t done!
and even though my posts don't reflect, I am getting ready to spray the exterior of the front half of the truck with color!!!

clemdaddy 08-03-2013 05:59 PM

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

man, sounds like you still get stuff done... i find peace of mind in the shop. sometimes i just go out there and sit on a stool and think and dream, best therapy in the world.

so, are you moving to tulsa? didn't catch if you had or not. i really like tulsa. its a cool and really clean city. not too big, not too small. and coulter's right, a lot more fun than poteau. i wonder if they still do the midnite drags on fridays...hmmm

anyway, keep getting the small stuff done... every bit helps.

Progress sounds great:metal:
Hope you get the pic thing figured out. Its a #IT_H sometimes.
I had to take vacation to get motivated and working in the shop again.
If it weren't for the money I'd quit my job.:hh: and stay motivated all the time.

this is what I did this labor day weekend, I've been letting life and the family get in the way of working on the truck! my lil girl started school this yr. and this summer ive been just doing the family thing

I think I got this pic thing somewhat figured out, but I can only load one pic per post! maybe this will get fixed, but for now I can atleast show some of the stuff I've got done this month! I haven't sprayed my bed with the raptor liner yet, been waiting on my friends dad to have a bay open in the shop for me to do some work on the truck there

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

well this last weekend I got the outside of the driver side bed stripped down to bare metal and is in etching primer now! there was more bondo on it and it looks like it had the side trim on it, then someone hammered the holes in and filled with bondo!! i'll get pics up this weekend when I go over there!

heres the bed sides, passenger side stripped down 1/2" bondo on the lower part that had rust and a big dent in it! I have longbed sides i'll cut my patches from!! the driver side is in a lil better shape don't have bondo covering rust on it, but did have 7 dents 6 look like it had side trim on it before!! in the second picture where the white hasn't been stripped down yet is were the rust and dent are at!! but anyways this is what ive been doing, progress might be slow but atleast it something, right!!!!
