Clamped in place

Zip screwed every 4 ", later I'll come back and drill holes in between the zips every 1" for plug welds
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...replace404.jpg
What looks like a white line is masking tape for referance, I cut about 3/16" off of the floor flange( between the longitude braces) so I could fit the seam up better, floor flange was just a little long

Here's today's progress, Jon signed off on it so I guess he's happy with the work. Everything is buttoned up, and doors hung. Time to blow it apart and prep for welding. No big issues to deal with....
I couldn't fit the patch for the kick panel, so I just made a template and marked where it has to be in relation to the floorboard, BAD IDEA, DON"T DO!!!!!

Re: PO has me PO'd

Today's progress, started to work on the kick panels. My idea of the template didn't pan out, and am I glad I cut 1/2" below the line. You can see the original line where I cut, moral of the story always use the patch panel for fitting and since I removed the cowl it made it much easier to work in that area. Once I cut the kick area out I reinstalled the cowl for fitment of the patch. Had to cut away the lower portion of the A post to get the kick panel in there

That gap, between the cowl and floorboard will be rebent once I remove the floorboard( don't know why it's there)

Thanks TJ

Excellent work Jim!

This thing is going to be better than a new truck, no offense to you GM workers building the new trucks.

The kick panel area is the one I'm most concerned about on my Blazer.

Re: PO has me PO'd

That's the area that always gives me the most trouble. I'll try to document it better for ya, since I have to do the other side. I tend to go with what fits rite, as opposed to where it is supposed to go

You doing great as far as documentation and pics go. And I, as well as many others I'm sure, appreciate it.

yes they are....though Jim and I didn't put more than two minutes into hanging them

They look nice, are those just tape marks on them? When I re-skinned the Blazer doors, I wished I had just bought new doors. Lots of rust inside! Glad I invested in my own sandblaster.

Yes- they're packed with an oversized blister-pack attached to prevent damage

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, no!:lol:This is more of a social drinking trip, with the fishing part as a side. The park ranger told us they stocked 4500 fish in the crick 2 weeks before, but I didn't see any:lol:

Re: PO has me PO'd

Here's yesterday's progress...Started off hanging kick panel, I like to fit it with the panel as close to the floorboard/cowl as possible, then clamp it and mark my holes for the two bolts and drill them out(acts like a clamp) while you get the rest of the panel screwed in place. Then I mark the top of the panel and cut to fit. The broad yellow mark needed some additional attention as it was 3/16" away from the floorboard.

You can see that the flange is short under the weatherstrip area (2nd pic) talked to Jon, he said he will have his company laser cut more matrl. in this area

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...replace441.jpg

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...replace442.jpg
Started to hang lower A post, elavation is important, since there has to be room for the rocker panel to mount up(at least a 1/2")but measure your flange on the rocker tobe sure

They don't give you much of a flange on the rear of the A post patch, so you have tobe precise. That's why I marked the center of the holes and a horizontal line as well
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...replace443.jpg

After all the work is dun, nuts will be tacked on lower A post patch, inside rocker box

Funny story: off topic
Lady across the street just rang my doorbell, she has a big black snake in her basement. So, I get my thick gloves and broom and I'm off for the hunt. Turns out tobe a 7" garter snake(cute little thing), disposed of properly in my garden(until my wife comes across it) Saved the world from another threat:lol:

Actually, I hate snakes, but the lady across the street was in a panic, so I put my fears aside:lol:

Yeah, finished up the A posts today, now it's just a matter of attaching the back of the cab to the floorboard and B posts

jaros44sr 05-02-2008 02:41 PM

Re: PO has me PO'd

Here's yesterday's progress, finished up A post patch. I found out that if you locate the two mounting holes to the rear first, it will give you the correct orientation of the patch panel. If it is tilted to far forward it will make contact with the rocker. I slice the kick panel patch at the rear flange of the A post patch to have it sit flush against the inner rocker backing plate(pic.2)

BTW, order two, in case you FIU. You won't have to wait for the UPS man, and you can return it...Don't ask how I know!
