Just saw this on Facebook, cool thing is it was taken pretty close to my home town in the SF bay area, in Mountain View.

That's a cool picture. I really don't see a lot of school bus pictures. Looks to me like the 55.1 was a new addition, judging by lack of plates and stickers left on windshields. What's interesting to me is how differently people treated buses. Those four, small lights on the roof were all that were needed to stop traffic. Today we have strobing yellows and reds plus one or two stop arms with strobing lights plus cameras.
I'm having trouble remembering what I've posted. I think these are new. |

Check out this one, taken 1970. It's so funny to think how OLD those trucks where. I bought mine in 74. OMG it was 26 years old! Today that would be a 93 Chevy pickup, that doesn't seem very old to me now! Brian https://scontent.fboi1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...27&oe=5E98E1FE |

My newest personal vehicle is a '99 Suburban which is definitely old for a New England daily driver. That fleet of yellow truck looks cool. For some reason I seem to find a lot more great pictures from the western states. Quote:

I love that stock car picture. The northeast used to be full of short tracks and a guy could spend almost every night of the week racing.

Nice photo I found. Looks like work was being done but I would guess the furds weren't involved.

Interesting box on the back of the AD. Is it canvas or tar paper? What purpose are the 2 openings on the front? B&O railroad photo from the mid to late 50's judging from the 2 cars in the back right side.

Ok guys, what in the heck are these brackets on the left fenders for?

Re: Our Trucks Doing What They Did - Vintage Photo Thread
That's a nice truck.
I don't know what the brackets are for, but I'm fairly certain I can find them in one of my old JC Whitney catalogs. |

Re: Our Trucks Doing What They Did - Vintage Photo Thread
That truck was NOT the norm, these trucks not no love back then, pretty rare to see a customized one. I am wondering about how low it is, I am thinking it's got another frame under it, or a front frame section welded on would be more likely. But the Rod and Custom Dream truck had a 50 Olds frame under it for a bit, they were thinking about that stuff back then, maybe that is what they did to this one.
