I like the city really, I like going out to eat at a different place every time, that sort of thing. I have a minor league bb park just a couple of miles from my house, that sort of thing.

But I get you, I grew up out in farm land, there is a lot of good to be said for sure.

Just saw this on Facebook, cool thing is it was taken pretty close to my home town in the SF bay area, in Mountain View.

That's a cool picture. I really don't see a lot of school bus pictures. Looks to me like the 55.1 was a new addition, judging by lack of plates and stickers left on windshields. What's interesting to me is how differently people treated buses. Those four, small lights on the roof were all that were needed to stop traffic. Today we have strobing yellows and reds plus one or two stop arms with strobing lights plus cameras.

I'm having trouble remembering what I've posted. I think these are new.

Those are awesome! I just love looking through those parking lot photos, all the convertibles that would be back then!

Check out this one, taken 1970. It's so funny to think how OLD those trucks where. I bought mine in 74. OMG it was 26 years old! Today that would be a 93 Chevy pickup, that doesn't seem very old to me now!

Agreed. It's funny that we have to do the math rather than relying on a sense of time.

My newest personal vehicle is a '99 Suburban which is definitely old for a New England daily driver.

That fleet of yellow truck looks cool. For some reason I seem to find a lot more great pictures from the western states.

That's great. So looking back, was it really that important to make it to work that day? ;)

I have lowered myself big time. For the last 20+ years I drove a 65 Skylark, a 95 Ford SHO, 59 Rambler and my 65 Gran Sport conv. Now, I am driving an 03 Caravan. :waah:

I just recently bought my wife a 16 Subraru, the newest car I have ever owned.

I love that stock car picture. The northeast used to be full of short tracks and a guy could spend almost every night of the week racing.

Re the pic of the TF over the side

Hopefully driver was able to swim to other side (unless that's the LA river and then should a climbed out of the right to avoid certain death from toxic water.

lol... Don't worry, no drivers were harmed in the making of this image. Although toxic water was definitely an issue...

This should give you a chuckle. Optimistic view of the automobile's future from 1956.

One of the only two trucks I have ever have seen that were chopped before mine in 1974. These trucks got very little love. I have the Rod and Custom magazine with that truck in it, along with the Dream Truck.

Those two meant a lot to me, they were the drive that made me chop mine!

I don't know what part scares me more. Staring at the grinder with no glasses on or doing hot work in polyester pants?

Interesting box on the back of the AD. Is it canvas or tar paper? What purpose are the 2 openings on the front? B&O railroad photo from the mid to late 50's judging from the 2 cars in the back right side.

I don't know what the brackets are for, but I'm fairly certain I can find them in one of my old JC Whitney catalogs.

Re: Our Trucks Doing What They Did - Vintage Photo Thread

That truck was NOT the norm, these trucks not no love back then, pretty rare to see a customized one. I am wondering about how low it is, I am thinking it's got another frame under it, or a front frame section welded on would be more likely. But the Rod and Custom Dream truck had a 50 Olds frame under it for a bit, they were thinking about that stuff back then, maybe that is what they did to this one.
