Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Holly $h*t how did you get my address? Just from my description? Go to street view, and turn on Mission. You will see me and my dog at the side gate. That cracked me up. In the view you shown is before I bought the house.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
:uhmk::lol: I guess if you pay for it it's live and the detail is better. Some places show up better then others.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
To answer one question. Google has a fleet of Priuses that are armed with 360 degree camera arrays and they just drive around..lol
Strodder, I'm going to use your idea for the drip rails. I have to metal finish mine anyhow and didn't want to shave them. I like the look a lot. |

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Dennis, I like what you are doing with the driprails. Mine are rusted away at a few spots and I haven't come up with a good idea, but I think yours just might do the trick. Anymore pictures of your progress would be appreciated :)

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Thanks Dennis! Now for the technical stuff. Where you hammered it down there is a very thin air gap I would assume, are you worried about rust in there at a later date? I know you are welding over it and stuff, I am just curious?

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
That makes sense. So if I am understanding how this is going to look, after you are done welding you are going to bondo up and blend into the crown of the roof panel right?

I think I see what you are saying. I can't wait to see the finally outcome. I don't think I have ever seen this done before, but it should give it a nice custom look!

I got the idea from the 46 Studebaker truck I use to have. The drip rails were flared like that stock. When the drip rails are shaved off clean it doesn't look finished. With the flare done it gives it style, and still has that custom clean look. |

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
nice read sofar , i have witnessed a tank being sealed with the gas still in it
wat happened that someone mounting a towhook drilled trough the floor intoo it they used a sanded copper coin and a huge electric soldering iron , it worked great another trick i heared about was hooking a hose up to a car exaust and let the engine run while welding it up |

Welcome back |
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Got my parts washer today from Harbor Freight. On sale for 79 bucks. Couldn't pass it up. Especially since I have my engine all apart. I'm starting to soak stuff already. :metal:
http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/618434246_jrsYj-L.jpg http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/618434331_H3D4R-L.jpg I got some prices from the Machine Shop and to grind the valves with 3 angles, hot tank, resurface & assemble for both heads are only $125.00 To power hone, and hot tank the block is another $106.00. Not a bad price. Now I have to sell some more stuff. |
