Thanks for the inputs. I will consider those ideas as I go.

This is what got done tonight. Cut out 8 brackets with the help of sdailey. We used a plasma and cleaned up with a die grinder. Next, the holes have to be drilled. Man, I wish I had a drill press. :lol: I'd like to have 2 studs sticking down thru the floor and one going up thru the seat. Then possibly cap the ends.

The bracket looks too small compaired to what you see on the seat, but the actual pad on the seat is about the same size as the bracket. I also decided to run 1 1/2" tubing all the way around since the seat bottom tilts. That will also make the seat level with the floor when viewed from the side.

Looks good Allan. Will you brace the underneath the floor with a thick plate where the bolts go through? You can weld nuts on them and bolt the bracket right to it.

What about making the riser all one piece from front to rear, pad up any difference in hite, cut your relief and bolt on the ends. Save yourself 2 bolts per rail, too.

It's just one of those things that I need from time to time, but have never bought one. Thanks for the comments David.

At first I thought about building a frame for each seat, then I had this idea (the one I'm trying). I like it because it is different. I never thought about your idea. It sounds like a good idea. Who knows it might end up that way.:lol:My plans change as I go.

I agree John, at least for now it sounds good. I'm sure it will look good. I've never seen it done like this.

I think it will flow and make it look like part of the seat.

Todays accomplishment. With the Miata done and gone, now I can concentrate on the truck. The fenders, inner fenders and core support got some color.:metal:

Does anyone have any pix of how the cab bushings go? I'm going to paint the roof since it is sitting on the ground. Then test fit the cab on the frame finish seam sealing. While it is on the frame I can get to the bottom of the cab to finish up the seats. Then the cab will finally get some color. :metal:

The seat brackets are almost done. I bolted them to the seats, set the seats in place, aligned, then tacked in place. Finaly I drilled thru the bracket and floor 16 times. I will remove the tacks and clean up

Right now this is what it looks like. It got late last night and didn't finish the last leg. I just cut off the feet and turned them to the inside. There was some interfearance with the seats. I had to locate the center seat to the front somewhat because when I flipped the center seat back up it hit the back of the cab. After all of this i realized that the seat brackets probably weren't needed. I could have flipped the center seat brackets the way I did and just shortened them. The seats sat on the floor just fine without the center seat in. But with the seats being raised it made it more comfortable and more leg room. I felt like it was easier to reach the pedals. I've sat in another truck with these same seats and it was ackward driving it, by that I mean I felt like I had to lift my leg up when going from the gas to the brake.

Looks very nice Allen...Love the Orange. The newer seats are much harder to install being three pieces....and I know what you mean about the seat height. I am 5'-11" and in my 02 HD I have the seat adjusted all the way up, not forward but up, because it feels better. With it down it feels like your sitting in a hole or maybe on one of those weard bikes with your feet out in front of you....:lol: Doesn't that seat have the electric adjust?

I was thinking it was that color. I'm thinking of a two tone. Black/Torch Red, or Black/Orange. Hugger Orange would look good with the black.

Thanks 502, I put the seats in the position that I liked. Since I willl be the only driver and tried to align everything to that, so everything (the rest of the seats) will be aligned. But, there is room for adjustment up/down and forward/back. The seat can't go back anymore due too space limitations behind it. If the seat back is tilted forward a little then it will go back more, but uncomfortable.

I agree with black and orange. It looks good, but also reminds me of halloween. :lol:

For the most part the seats are done. The seats sit closer to each other than they use to. I needed to do that to line the seat up on the steering column. So too make it even the passenger seat had to come in as well.

Cab going up for a test fit and I'm glad I did before I painted it. Even the professionals make mistakes. The right front cab support hole in the pan is not lined up. I don't know what happened. I basically have to do what I did on the drivers side. Cut out a square around the hole and move it. I could have sworn I dropped a bolt thru it. The rear cab mount bolt that came in the replacement kit is too big for the factory nut. I will need to knock off the factory cage nut and use the nut in the kit.

Test fitted the front sheet metal again. For several reasons get them in a safe location and I cleaned up the shop today. Oh yeah I need to repair the headlight mount panel and test fit it on the new fenders.

Your truck sure is looking nice man. What brand paint are you guys sprayng? Your finish looks good too. What gun and tip size did you use for your base and what for your clear? I've had good luck using my sata 3000 hvlp 1.3 for base and sata 3000 RP 1.4 for my clears. I used to use the same gun untill I painted an E4 ford fender and blended the door and on my door I had mett. flecks in my blend panel. Then I went to using seperate guns.
I have my bed and fenders stripped down, bodyworked and ready for primer, but I dont know which im going to go with yet. What did you do from bare metal? Did you etch prime and then use high build primer or did you epoxy and then build primer? Did you prep your primer out in 600 and just base on it or did you prep it in 320-400 and seal it before your base? Both ways will work, but I just wated your opinion of what you did and why before I do mine. I dont know what system would be better since they both work well. I do all insurance repairs and dont have a lot of experiance in all bare metal completes, so thats why I ask. all i do at work is spot repair, panels, blends, edging .. insurance jobs dont do complete strip and refinishes too often. Thanks man. When you baked it - did you let it flash for 10-15 before bake or did you go straight out and kick on the bake? Do you guys bake at 155 for 45min or? We just got our blowtherm booth and it seems if I come straight out aand kick on bake immediately i get some solvent pop issues, but if I wait 10-15 or 20 ... bake it everything is fine. The paint rep says to immediatly bake it so as to not trap solvents and we use SIKKENS, but I think it needs to flow out for 10-15 before bake. Let me know what works for you thanks.

We shoot PPG at work. This orange is actually Sikkens base. I think is has a better color than PPG. I mixed up some and did some spray outs and liked the sikkens better. I know I could tint the PPG, but I'm not a painter by trade I'm still learning. I'll have to get the painters to help tint the PPG to match the Sikkens. It was left over from the Toyota truck I painted.

I've got cheap guns off the tool trucks. The painter lets me use his guns. The orange was sprayed with Iwata ???400. I think the tip was 1.4. He also uses the SATA's.

I sprayed DP90 over my bare metal. Then did the metal work and primed with a 2k highbuild.

I wet sand with 400 and seal.

I rushed the stuff I just painted knowing I will have to repaint for several reasons. The fenders have some solvent pop and the inner fenders were hard to paint both sides at one time and get all of the nooks and crannys. I will have to repaint the top of the inner fenders. I just wanted to get something done. Painting something motivates me cause I feel like I'm making more progress even if I have to repaint if that makes sense.:lol: I don't think I let it flash long enough between coats cause I've got some solvent pop. I also used rapid hardener cause it was friday night and I wanted to take the parts home. I baked it for 15 minutes and it was dry. Normally we bake at 150 for 30 minutes with regular hardener. We started using PPG Glamour clear, I love it more than the 884. I normally kick the heat on with in 10 minutes of painting.

I've painted several cars and have alot too learn.

Oh, hell, I wasn't trying to nit pick you. I think it turned out great. I wouldnt do any repainting on the inners, but thats me. Once its all shot, sanded and buffed it will be a super sharp truck. I like that orange a lot. Not to often do people do solid colors anymore. Everyone wants a mettallic or pearl or Kandy, etc,etc. I like the solid orange you chose.
The gun your painter uses a ...Iwata-LPH400? Ask him how it compares to a SATA 3000. I've always wanted to buy an Iwata, but don't know anyone who uses one everyday.

not to steal your thread, but here's a 64 pontiac lemans I redone for my buddy at work. Ive been thinking about something similar paint scheme wise on mine when I get it ready for paint. hes a cowboys fan so we went with "cowboys" colors. The second picture is where I started on my fenders .. lol im still far off. Im stretching each fender 2 1/2" so i got a ways to go yet. I look at your build thread for more ambition to do mine so I dont get burnt out.
I think i may have your orange n blk painted on my toolbox i use for all my blocks and sanders and grinders. I shot it orange similar to yours and black and then threw a harley sticker on it. harleys - my other love.
