Making some progress on the fire wall.
I started by making a template out of some heavy card stock and cutting a couple pieces of 16 gauge. After tacking them together I honestly hated how it looked. The 90* looked bad. Kim |

So here's the fix.
I took some more sheet that I had bent. I used my shrinker/stretcher to create an outside curve and an inside curve and then welded them together. I took my original piece for the back and cut it to fit my new piece. Sorry i didn't get more pics of the process but I just got caught up in making it work. Got it all in and it's much more appealing to the eyes. Kim |

Here's the pics of it around the engine. I still have to final weld it but that's for another day.

Looking Good!
I ran across this several weeks ago and forgot to post it on here when you started to mock it up. http://www.thehollisterroadcompany.c..._Firewall.html http://www.thehollisterroadcompany.c...rewall0022.jpg |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim:
That looks great. How did you bend the radius on the straight piece? What gauge did you use? Is that piece overlapped on the firewall? If so, will you just fill it? |

I used 16 gauge. The piece is cut to fit flush with no overlap. Quote:

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Once again, great job on the firewall.

Yep, looks real good.:metal:
All the fab work is sweet.:chevy: What flavor of headers are you gonna run? Looks like you have enough clearance for some long tube headers. Well it want be long and you will be ready to you fire that bad boy up! Hey, Look into Joe Gibbs oil for GM LS engines. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Why spend so much when you can get the german Castro Synth 0-30 for half the price at AutoZone, lots of talk about that on the LSx boards. Make sure it's the bottle that says bottled or made in Germany.

I can get them in the $400 range. Not sure if I want to pay the extra cost of the long tubes at this time. Quote:

Re: My 57 Pro Street
looks great, how far back is the piece you built?

It's set back 3"s. It gives me about an inch of clearance behind the intake. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim,
Once again you did a great job on that firewall everything is looking top notch. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Looking good! I like seeing others progress. It helps me get going. You have mad fabrication skils. :metal:

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim,
I gotta say this is one of the slickest builds on the forum. You are a metal magician. I've gotten a lot of ideas from your build |

A little up date.
I needed to make my trans hump so here's what I did. I made a frame out of some round stock and then made some templates out of heavy card stock. Kim |

A little welding, bending and grinding and I have something that will be hidden by a center console and carpet.
I'm waiting on some headers to see if they're going to fit before I get the cab back off to finish up the firewall. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
you can never have too many circuits in your truck :D
by the time you add all the options they will disappear fast. my preference is to run the fan directly off the battery and only use the fan circuit to feed the relays for the fans. i have a distribution block in my console, heavy cable from battery to the dist block. panel feed, stereo amps (fused at block), fan (30a breaker), vintage air (30a breaker) and my motor feed (ram jet harness 50a maxi fuse) all run off the distribution block |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Love the firewall and trans tunnel Kim you are making some great process and the quality of the workmanship is supreme. Re the radiator fans shouldn't they be supplied direct from the battery via a relay. ta George

G'day Kim,
Fantastic job on the firewall. Very neat indeed! Regards, Trently Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
You could always de-pin the circuits you don't need. I took out my extras very carefully at the rear of the block and stored them in baggies for later use if I ever need them. It really cleans up under the dash not having the extras in the way. You'll find that there are a BUNCH of circuits you won't use because of the LSx harness.
