Re: MY build thread...
Well after alot of rain an a quick trip to LMC in Lenexa I came back after gas with a $450 hole in my wallet! I got a new windshield and cab rubber kit. Oh yea the other few dollars went to steel to finish my tailgate frame so I can move forward on the bed. My wife just got me a new studgun for my birthday. I'll post pics when I get on a computer.

Re: MY build thread...
Well not really been alot of pics to show but a few parts. We did however get the back window in and the alt, electric fan wires all loomed up and looking good and the seats back in it. Getting closer just a few small odd and ends to go then it's smoking time.... Tires that is!!

And put my back window in. The tailgate looks heavy but suprisingly its lighter than the tailgate was and since everything will be smoothed in,still need sheet metal for the inside, the top edge of the tail and the side rails are almost the same width so I have just at 2" in on the rear stake pockets from side to corner and tailgate to corner of the rear pockets so it just adds to the look of being alittle different. And if somebody ever hits the back of this thing...GOD forbid, they are going to know it...

Re: MY build thread...
I HATE WIRING!!! 6 hours of hell and still not done. Note to self those universal hotrod wiring kits are a pita to wire to 50 year old electronics. I hope everything works when done. Air ride works also had to make some reducers to slow down the front. Aftermarket guages would've been easier also...

Re: MY build thread...
I'm going to paint the front of the bed this weekend and wheel houses and put the bed on this weekend... Haven't heard much about this small town show saterday so I'm still undecided if I'm going to waste the gas going up....

Re: MY build thread...
Well it runs and drives but.... Didn't have time to finish the dash wiring and install the windshield! They are calling for rain this weekend so I think without side windows it's probably best it stays home instead of going to ol marries show.... I got the first round of blocking on the tailgate done just have a few more spots to fix. I'll post pics alittle later.

Heres the pics. Pulled it outside cleaned the tap roots out from under it and spun it around and backed it back in the shop. Runs good but the gas is old and the motor wasnt caring for it too much. Bed needs more work but here it is after first blocking. Got a new headlight switch in and now I need the dang knob for it...

Re: MY build thread...
Truck is looking nice :metal: I think from all I've read it's best to not put time limits on yourself. Once you do the stress goes up and the fun factor goes down. It'll be done before you know it! Keep it up! :)

Re: MY build thread...
Do you have some pictures of the finished exhaust? What was the OD of the pipe through the frame to get the exhaust outside the framerails?
|
Re: MY build thread...
I don't have any exhaust on it now but when I do get it done I'm going 2.5" into the mufflers under the cab then Step up to 3" possible H pipe then outside of the frame to in front of the tires. The tube going through the frame is 5" I think cut 1" thick on a 45* angle welded inside and out. My truck will not haul more than a few chairs and a cooler. For a dd I would make it the same thickness of the top ofthe frame and box the area in but I'm not too worried about it. Thanks for checking out the build. Keep track I might be getting exhaust in a few weeks.....
