That is one straight truck Alan! Which makes me think of a question, how do you guys wash between the end of the bed and the cab? I cant even get my hand in between there to put any kind of pressure on whatever I might use to wash it?

Thanks!! As far as washing it I couldn't tell you. I have not washed one in 20 years. I got mine home and tore it apart right away.

What HP do you expect?

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

That would look good with a set of plexiglass valve covers!

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

The engine should be over 420 HP......Here's a link to the engine I sorta mocked........Same cam......Exceptions being my compression is 10.5 and I used the Patriot freedom Heads they flow a little better.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

I've read a lot about them too, some people say they flow like a Dart head at half the price. I cant remember, were yours the aluminum or cast iron?

198plus 08-30-2009 11:23 PM

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

Mine are Aluminum and they are half the cost of Dart heads. With a cam lift up to 550 lift there should not be any difference between the heads. The thing I really like about them is there combustion chamber. It's a fast burn chamber Like the Vortec and requires very little timing. These heads Can support 500-550+ hp with a little work.

the valve covers look good...but I really don't like the word Holley on there.......maybe black out the letters so they don't stand out so much,....jmho

What color is the truck going to be?

1964C10 09-01-2009 12:11 PM

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

I have always been partial to these covers with the low spots painted in the color of the truck.
http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...&ProdID=211879

This is of course purely my taste lol

x2 on the Pace Performance valve covers..then again it is YOUR truck!

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

x2 for not liking the holly label. I would also color match to the truck.

It's not a 64-66, but on my 02 I run 255/70 & 265/70 on 16x8 on. I like the size and fit. What size do you have on the rim now (they do look tiny)? 285/70x16 are nice and meaty, but pretty tall & big for your truck.

These are 265/70X16 It fills the fender really good with a 8" rim. I want to go bigger.

235/60x16 are 27.1" tall and 9.25 tread width

255/70x16 are 30.05" tall and 10.03 tread width

265/70x16 are 30.5" tall and 10.43 tread width.

Both will be about 3" taller, and 3/4 to 1 1/4" wider

I have some 15" cragers. They have the 3 point spinner. Need to be blasted and re diped or painted. I have no use for them but they are for a s10. I think 5x4.5 is that correct.

No 5X4.75. F**d is 5X4.5 Unless it's a Uni Lug

ruffrida2005 09-12-2009 10:10 PM

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

I think it's a uni lug, it's got little washers that go in so I believe you can change the lug patter if you have the correct ones.
