That's some heavy news right there, I'm glad at least you guys are alright. I was wondering when you posted about moving your truck over so your wife could park inside if that would hinder your quick access to the shelter? I'm sure you have that part figured out, just don't block that sucker.:ele::two::thumbs::fro::mel::flagw:

Actually the shelter door slides open on the floor toward the wall and they recommend you park over it so if your roof collapses it won't fall on the door or the area needed to open the door. In any event it is registered with the city so they come check on you if a tornado hits.
Thanks for the smilies, Ellie will love those. :ito:

No little one yet, huh? Well, hopefully soon and then you can get back to the truck! Speaking of which, that sounds like something I need to do!

Here is rustbuket jr. rockin a baby Mohawk  oddly enough one of our nurses was the nurse that almost got sucked out of Moore medical center window during the tornado.

Thanks D, The good looks are from my side ;)

I got my from a arms assembled with Moog ball joints and cross shafts, upper and lower c-arm bumpers (bump stops) from Brothers Trucks, KYB shocks from Rock Auto, Lower arm U bolts from Napa, Western Chassis drop spindles from Brothers trucks. I reused the original shims, stripped and painted. All new hardware. The A-arms are powder coated, Ball joints, shafts, and shims are painted with seymour cast blast paint. Here are a bunch of pics coming up. The driver side pics are kind of dark so only a few of those..Rotors are at Oreilly auto being turned and should be a real rolling chassis real soon!

Nice work on the front end. I'm taking notes for a future suspension upgrade on mine. Get the wrench in little man's hands ASAP.

The contrasting components look great. This is exactly where I'm at with my truck (re-assembly of front suspension), so this is the motivation I've been needing to get back to work on mine.

Thank you, That front suspension is a killer. Cross shafts are a pita! Next time I will just have to go aftermarket tubular arms. :ito:

Thanks, and welcome to the forum! Lots of great info and help around here.

Well since the last pics I realized something was wrong up front because the upper control arms contacted the spindle when the chassis was on jack stands and started a thread over in the suspension forum. Most said it is common to have to trim the upper control arm to eliminate the interference so that is what I did. I took about .25" off the control arm. I only needed maybe 1/16" or so but wanted to make sure there was no interference. Int the previous pics you can see the wad of blue tape at the contact point and in my first pic of this post this is how the fit now, much better!

I got some original rotors from my homeboy suspect :ito: since he went with big brakes. Thanks again buddy! Had them turned at Oreilley then sandblasted, painted with VHT silver, packed the existing Timken bearings and slapped in some new seals. Also sandblasted the steering gear box and idler arm bracket.

PS a smart guy would sandblast the rotors before having them machined.....

I replaced the wheel studs also. Put the rotors on and put the front wheels with bald tires on :uhmk:

I have to replace some hardware and wait for my new idler arm and pitman arm to arrive.. But it is now a ROLLER !!:metal:

Here are some "roller" pics ;)

I have been playing around with the rear gas tank. Trying to figure a better way to mount it without notching the upper frame rail for the side fill. This is why the rear frame crossmember is removed in the pics. I think I finally decided to just notch the rail and mount it underneath. I will form up a notch out of 3/16 on Friday and get to working on mounting the tank for the last time...

The stance is great so far but I have a lot of weight to add before I see the real ride height. Looking about right though :smoke:

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"

It's almost a truck again! When I mentioned this before you were planning aftermarket arms, but if you didn't already do it, it isn't too late to do the caster mod. This is one of the best things I did for my truck and it will only take about an hour from where you are now. I don't even think you'll hurt the powdercoat.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=501241

I wouldn't be pushin this on you if I wasn't a huge fan of the mod and of your build!

Yeah I saw that before, it sounds good but if I ever have to put on another control arm shaft nut I am going to strangle someone  depending on how long I keep this truck (you never know) it will get some upgrades. I decided to skip out on some suspension parts in favor of driving this thing someday soon.
And thanks for the compliment!

Been working away on the gas tank notch. Grrrrr. I cut a piece of 3/16 and formed the ends up 45* and trimmed it down a bit since this pic. Should have this finished up this weekend.
