Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Getting ready to put it in my garage this weekend... decided to throw the battery out of my 442 in it and see if anything still worked...

https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...51496701_n.jpg

Cue the scary john carpenter music!

Headlights & high beams worked, speedo dashlight worked... pressed on the starter plunger and it spins up- although didn't engage the flywheel. Probably stuck.

Will be pumping up the tires this afternoon and with some help relocating it to my garage to get things ready to try and fire it back up.

Started sandblasting my 51 cab in prep to put on the new rear lower panel. What a time consuming, dirty and hot job. It would have been cheaper to have someone come in and do everything and it would all be done in a day.

I took out the 3/4 ton rear end along with the overload springs and overload stops off the frame. Checked out the new (to me) '58 Apachie 1/2 ton rear end that will take it's place.

This is the first prototype. I'll do a couple more in black mainly because black is cheaper, then when i have it down pat, i'll do in the off White/Gray color. What ya think ?

Looks cool Tomb23 but what is it? Maybe I'm out of the loop. I have a 3D printer to help out in prototyping if need be. All I need is the STL file.

Oh ya! Forgot. Sprayed on the first coat of paint on the 51. Sprayed Nason epoxy primer on the bottom of cab and up inside the top rear panel in preparation of installing the new rear lower cab panel. Gonna get the inside of the cab done tomorrow. Sandblasted the last two days just on the cab. If I see another grain of sand ......................

Fleetside bed inner fender body work. Wish I hadn't tossed so many bricks, rock, etc in there for 25 years. Got it close with hammer and dolly, then some skim. Final finish will be bed liner so prefection is not necessary.

Usually don't mix this and business, but anticipated cash for truck and other expenses is now a collection lawsuit. I should not be surprised that money trumps a 20 year business relationship, but it did. Unjust enrichment at my expense. Sorry for the vent.....but I feel a little better.

Isn't that the truth? 2 years ago, my aunt went after my dad for money my now departed grandmother gave him to bail my duma$$ brother out of jail and take care of his legal fees. My aunt even had the nads to say i stole money from Nana to pay for college and threatened to sue me too. I told her if she brings that case to court i'd have her in a defamation lawsuit so fast her head would swim. (my gramma offered me money in college, but i never took it...told her to make me cookies instead, which she did.)

Oh we have had our share of the family estate issues too. Found out trusts mean nothing if the people involved are unethical. Judges just say the family should solve it on their own and dismiss....

Senility runs in my family too.
Now if I can just remember where I live, I'll go have a cookie.

Installed a dropped axle from Sid today. Had some trouble with the u-bolts not being narrow enough and had to trim the wedge shims down to 1.75". Bought some new rear brake lines and put some 31x10.50's all the way around it (it's the only size that I had four of) to get an idea of stance.

Put on a new sexy Quickfuel blackdiamond 780 VS carb for the 57 as it goes in for dyno tuning tomorrow and the old Holley 670 wasn't gonna cut it.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Pulled the truck into my garage last weekend- last night I finnally got to work..
Pulled the spark plugs, squirted some marvel mystery oil into each cylinder.

Got out my breaker bar to attempt to turn it over manually- then realized there is no crank bolt on this thing... how the heck do you turn it over?

I hooked my battery back up, thinking i would try and kick it over with the starter, since it spun for me last week (just didn't engage) I thought maybe i could whack it with a hammer and it would start engaging.

Pushed on the stomp starter and POP! No more headlights and no more starter spin.
:-(

I used engine cleaner and power washed the engine bay before i moved the truck... guessing water got into the starter or something. Will have to pull the starter and see if it will work on its own, then re-install.

Sometimes you can pull the flywheel inspection plate and set a socket and bar on the converter or clutch bolt to see if it will turn or use a pry bar on the flywheel teeth.
