Runs like a new machine again, quiet & smooth.

You got me curious ..what year model was this when new? I am not surprised at you being a Mr Fix it Guy from postings in the past .Great job Mike ,I too fix some things beings I am retired and "why not " aint doing much anyways

Mike, I don't know how your dryer is made but one we had many years ago had an ear shattering screech. I thought it was the drum rollers under the front of the tub. Turned out it was the center spindle at the back of the drum that had gone dry and scored the ball it rotated in. I couldn't fix that one.

Stocker 05-26-2024 04:24 PM

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Near as I can tell, the Maytag Maxima X dryer was made in 2013.

No center spindle -- the drum rides on 2 rollers in front and 2 more at the back. Spring-loader idler pulley near the motor and a long skinny drive belt that goes around the drum.

Yesterday I took the Camaro to a local cars and coffee. Weather was perfect. Mid 60's. About 80-90 cars turned out. It was held at a local tire shop. Free burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks. They did a great job.

Switched out my gas tank and need to get a new rear wall teal carpet. All the ones online say they’re for w/o gas tank? I obviously need one that accommodates a in cab gas tank. I also found a spring hold down under the seat for tools? I saw the spring on the passenger corner for the jack but the jack tools are in the center console of the buddy seats.

Here's how the tools look when they are stowed under the buddy seat. I always wondered what the shapes were for on the cab floor.

Started putting in the new headlamps in my Chevelle . They said they are direct replacements but I had to do some messaging (sanding and die grinding ) the back of the housing to fit the buckets . Much brighter but I don’t think I would do it again . I’d just go with the Silver star seal beams

Me and the wife spent about 9 hours cleaning and painting the garage..I thing she is planning a "surprise" birthday party for my 60th in a couple of weeks. Some decorations are still hanging from my 50th. Time sure does fly.

I spent the last couple days preparing and installing cedar planking in the master bedroom closet. I feel I have to mention the material from CedarSafe is pretty poor quality. Lots of ends chipped out and bowing in the 4 inch direction. This has required me to cut the moderately bowed ones in half and re-square the ends to keep the seams from gapping. The worst pieces I just scrapped. There's 20-30% of the pieces that fall into this category.

It used to be there was a better quality planking available but nowdays it's this stuff, custom ordered wood, or 3/4 x 6 inch lumber. Both of those other options are significantly more expensive.

The upside is the wife loves how it looks. The downside is she now wants the other upstairs closet done the same way.

Went fishing. Well, guess I should say boating as I didn't catch a dang thing. Spent hours out there on a really nice little lake I haven't been to in over 30 years. Guess I'll have a nap now.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

My "fishing" experience generally reminds me of that Tommy James song, "Draggin' a Line". If I really want to eat fish, I have to go to the store. My wife's father, on the other hand, could limit out in minutes with people on either side not even getting a bite. They always had rainbow trout stocked up in the freezer.

Very nice work. :metal:
That usually the way it works if they like it.

I really like working with cedar.

I am currently working on a Box to put the (Dog stuff) stuff on the back porch in.

There is a Cedar Mill several miles from me.
They are exclusively a Cedar mill.

I got some Tongue and groove from there for the sides
and had a Few 1x8's left from a facia board project for and old shop at Momma's.

Here is a sneak peek at the box as I just got done with the last big Glue -Up.

This is the Back side of the Front Panel.

Attachment 2364790

This is the Back side of the box mocked up.
I have trim that I ripped to size that will cover the corners.
Just need to get it together before I cut the trim to length.

Attachment 2364791

This is the inside of the back of the box.
Time will tell if it gets trim or not.
I do have thin strips if needed.

Nah, you were fishing. Of course, there's a significant difference between "fishing" and "catching". ;)

Hope you had a nice nap!

Oh, man. Ain't that the truth!

Also looked at the CL pages for a vehicle I saw advertised at a local car show. It ain't on CL yet. I may have a good shot at it. It's a blue oval product, so that's all I'm going to say about it here.

It's all good man. This is the "not on your truck" section. Read that as "not on your GMC or Chevy that brought you here" and tell us about it. If you're happy, we're happy ; )

What kind are they? Seemed like many upgrades require cutting the headlight cups which I'm not willing to do either.

Went and looked at another . 82 Suburban Silverado C20 big block with everything including rear air that works truck has 88 k showing and I believe it , all original never touched hood has few rub throughs to the primer in the edge of the peaks. I’m on the fence he’s firm at $1k more of what I would comfortably pay for it. I offered he countered and would budge . Told him I’d think about it . It’s a very nice truck but I wouldn’t be heartbroken if I don’t buy it .

I looked at this to on my way home from New Hampshire. Just out side Bennington Vermont . I’m going to call about it if the burban doesn’t come to fruition. This is a 92 with 50k original miles truck came out of Texas the only repaint that I could find on it was the roof . Typical that nobody waxes the roof. It’s a 4.0 4x4 with 5spd transmission

My shop is in full sun and it gets too danged hot in there to work. I bought a mini split last fall and finally got it installed. This sure ain't nothing like throwing a window unit in... IF I had been thinking ahead 3 years ago, when I finished the interior, I should have framed in for a couple of those. Anyway, this puts out 19k btu of cool and it drops the temp in there rather quickly.

Yes, congrats on the 44 years. Not a lot of people stay together that long anymore.

Scary to think if I was still with the first one, it would be coming up on 52...damn, that makes me feel old. I like the 32 with the "right one" better.
