I worked on lining the door back up to the door latch after replacing the door pins and bushings last weekend.

I think it is close, it may need a little more tweaking.

Flipped a coin to see which one I would work on today. It landed on tails so it was the barn find project. Started by cleaning up the engine and start working on a breaking the engine loose.. I found an old points and rotor still in the package while I was going through this thing.

One question is the rubber floor mats appear to be original and in great shape. But there is a thin foam sheet under it. It is formed to the floor pan and it appears to be factory. It has holes in the right places. So is that factory?

Troubleshooting a bad miss since my drive back from the Brothers Truck show last weekend. Ran a compression test and all the cylinders were within 10 psi (155-165). Since I had no idea how old the cap, rotor and plug wires were, I replaced them and the spark plugs as well. From what I can tell, seems to have solved the problem. Running like it was before the miss started. Yea!!! :D

My new breather cap is in the front one just like it was. The hose is going in the back one just like it was. Below the front hole tho, on the driver side of the valve cover is another same size hole. I have nothing to put in it. Is it a oil filler hole maybe? If so what do I put in it while it's running? I'm assuming it has to be plugged. HELP??!!!!!

It's a 230 Chevy L6. 63 Chevy c10 short/step. Thanx men:metal:

Depending on the size of the hole, there are also generic valve cover grommets that are plugged:

Put the other fender on, had to pull the steering shaft out, the power steering hoses I made fit fine under etc, no issues, also got the seat from Glide Engineering, with mounts and foam, will have it covered with the door panels and visors.

Changed all the hoses in the engine compartment along with the thermostat. Replaced the gas tank. Pulled the radiator, gonna have it tested but I bet it will need replaced. It's been repaired at least once before.

Spent 3.5 hours waiting at DMV to do 10 mins worth of work. Got pl & pd insurance while I waited. Burb is now registered to me, I went with an antique plate. Limits when I can drive it but it'll be good for the rest of this year anyway.

Sarted to retofit an single electric fan for backup when extended idling, only goes to 215 max when idling for a long time but 180 normal driving, so used a temp sensor wired into the intake crossover to come in at 195. Finish it tomorrow and take pic's.

I pulled the front sheetmetal out from under my bed and bolted it up. It has been under there so long the dust looked like snow. Nasty.

Got the inner fenders back from the painter he did a good job with the undercoat. I cut and put on the weatherstrip. Once the adheavesive dries tomorrow, I'll try and mount these up, I'm glad I waited to get a matched set of 60-61 oem fenders, the after market stuff is really cut wrong.

Picked up an early GMC horn button so I can start experimenting with grille emblems.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took a part the steering wheel and part of the column. Fixed the turn signal switch at the bottom of the column (inside the firewall), replaced the cam and fabricated a new turn signal arm.
Put all of the steering wheel horn parts back in since nearly all were missing.

Started doing the 66 style e-brake conversion only to find out the rear cables I have are completely wrong. Like, not even close.

New parts ordered. The Woogaroo rear drum brake step-by page was super helpful,

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

well the rag joint arrived today from "rock auto" so this evening was spent fitting the power steering, i had previously made the pump mounting brackets, acquired the hoses, and made an adaptor plate similar to captainfabs, after alot of trial and error with templates, clamps, and the like, it turned out pretty good and drives nice and smooth, i,ll do a proper alignment job at the weekend but i dont think its too far out. next job is to find a decent bench seat,[their a bit thin on the ground here in the uk.] may have to look into recovering the old tatty one.
the search function on here has been a real help to me with all the available info, thanks guys, i hope one day i can give something back.

Got my truck inspected today and the rally rims put on it. Looks so much better. Can't wait to get it registered so I can actually drive it legally.
