today was a good day. im not sure why or how everything fell into place but it did. after a long but smooth day at work I got home and the a/c fitting I ordered yesterday in on my porch. how crazy is that? less than 24 hours

Got a few things bolted and tied to my truck to haul it to my new life. Last day at work, after 18 years (and one week) it was NOT easy. The guys took me out to a wonderful lunch, I would never get alcohol on a work day, they all insisted including the boss. I got a "Cadillac Margareta." LOL Yeah, that was good!

So hard to leave, I cleaned out my tool box and gave the empty box to a young guy looks like he has some passion for the work.

Yep, it was a good day.

It won't be full retirement yet, I couldn't put up with that, but a few years of easy stuff is on the way.

Got a bunch of stuff in the cab for the move. Tied it all in with those giant wire ties that Harbor Freight has. My brother had a good idea of throwing a bike chain or cable around stuff with a lock on it. I removed one of the tail gate bolts and put a lock and even through a cable over the bed and around the frame so the bed couldn't be taken. I did this because stuff being stolen from towed cars OR the whole thing being stolen is very common on towed cars while you are at a hotel. I am not sure if I will be able to drive the whole way, 10 hours. I did it once and it kicked my butt. After loading that truck, I am thinking I won't be able to do it. So a hotel may be in the horizon and I figured I would throw a few locks on it so it would be safer.

not a bad idea to lock all that stuff down. but whats wrong with a 10hr drive? I just did seattle to sacramento in 12.5 And it didn't bother me. but it wasn't in a u haul

I may do the whole thing, as long as I leave early enough. Believe me, I did a 17 hour once going up to Oregon from my house here in the SF bay area to get my kids once. But I was much younger then!

When I was attending college in Saskatchewan I would occasionally make the drive from western Oregon in one shot - about 19 hours. When they reduced the national speed limit in the 1970s it added 2 hours to the drive - 21 hours.

I’ve been having trouble with shutting my passenger door. So I replaced the aftermarket latch with a NOS latch. It works so good I wish I would have done them both

Wow, that's cool. My latches are so worn, I can see where some previous owner built the striker metal back up with weld.

Painted the underside of my fenders black today. Nice to look in there and not see grey primer anymore. Another one of those things that would have been easier while the fenders were off, but back then I was in a rush to get the truck driveable so I just bolted them on.

Stuff is still out there! I have NOS latches, strikers and handles.

Well today I listed my truck for sale :-( I live so far out in the sticks that it's just an ordeal to take it anywhere so it just sits in the garage. And car shows always start too ridiculously early in the morning to attend. Seems like the same pattern I always follow - build a car then sell it. I'd really rather keep it, but if someone brings the cash...

Ebay, I have found so much NOS stuff it's crazy, I love NOS stuff. :D We are talking a distributor, Corvette intake manifold, headlamp bezels, hood moulding, and on and on.

What I do is click on the "advanced" button next to the "Search" button on Ebay. I then search out using really basic words like 1950 chevy truck NOS.

I then go down to the "Sort by" button and click on "Newly listed."

Then save that to my favorites. Of course you need to put 1947 1948 1949 1950 1951 1952 1953 1954 1955 in the year and then save them all. So now you will have a quick click link to these newly posted auctions (or buy it now of course) items that are only NOS for your truck. You click on each one of these every morning and you will see that stuff that was just posted within a day. Often they are buy it now, and wham, you get your treasures!

So every day you will come up with something like this. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...+1950&_sacat=0

Not very exciting but scroll through and you may find something!

I have found so much NOS stuff like this it's crazy, for my '59 Rambler a brand new steering wheel for $75 and a horn button for $15. It's fun to see what's there every day.

Brian
