Here's a door latch.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1947-19...ss!94538!US!-1 I added "door" to my search, and this came right up. You can do that too, put something like door in the search and it leaves it wide open for all door parts. If you put door latch then ALL you will get are auctions with those two words, where you never know someone could spell latch wrong or put "lock" instead or something goofy like that. But if you put simply door, then you will get everything with door in it, and if you do the "newly listed" and you check it every day, you won't get thousands of auctions you will see the ones just listed. Here's a door lock :D https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1947-19...0AAOSwJytdKk5W Brian |

My son and daughter-in-law surprised me with this rendering of my '56. She's quite the artist.

I was pleased to get a spare pair of panel/Suburban rear bumper brackets today. These things are like hen's teeth and they're not reproduced. But fortunately I found a set on Ebay that were being described as pickup bumper brackets. I recognized the difference and bought them for about half their value. They'll sit on my shelf along with other hard-to-find panel/Suburban-specific parts.

Early in the week I sanded my inside doors and painted them, new stainless lower door seal and new weatherstrip. Then yesterday I installed sound deadening material in the cab and laid down new carpet. Have not yet glued down the carpet, as I need to get the Lokar shift boot installed, among other things.
Still need to finish weatherstrip around the rest of the each door (I did just the bottoms). |

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
im am currently chasing the leaks in my a/c system. even at 10pm its 90 degrees in my garage and the humidity about 97%. I checked all the hoses I could reach then tried to drop the unit. the hoses and all the crap are holding it but I was able to drop it a few inches to check the lines under the dash. one was fine the other a little loose. felt confident I had fixed the leak put a vacuum back on it and it leaked again. its leaking quick. im going to go back out and soap all of the connections and put a vacuum back on it. maybe it will show me what im missing. its annoying to be so close and having a stupid issue. its a leak. I can fix a leak. I just cant find the stupid leak. headed back out.
okay. well that didn't work...or maybe it did. I put it on a vacuum for a few minutes. turned the truck/ac on full, added Freon with uv dye. spilledthe uv dye. wiped the motor down. added the Freon until the compressor cam on. let it run and hit it with my uv light. I did find a very small amount on the threads for the #10 hose with is the low side. tomorrow I will remove that end and re-lube and seat it. i guess its progress. |

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
after 3 weeks my a/c in installed and holding vacuum. none to soon either. its 103 today. its on its final evacuation now. so in 2 hours my cool truck will be even cooler. while screwing around I slipped and poked a small hole in a rubber fuel line. luckily its just a 3 inch hose that connects the regulator to the hardline. will get another piece when I get out today. so close guys. im fighting back a grin because im afraid it will jinx me.
UPDATE- did a 1 hour evacuation and then let it sit and hold the vacuum for an hour per vintage air instructions. came back and it held. we are go for Freon. love when stuff works...which isn't often. |

Drove to a neighboring town for a local festival. Traffic was too chaotic there so went to McDonalds instead for a Sausage Egg McMuffin With Cheese.

Not usually a “car show” guy but we always enjoy Cruising McMinnville. I usually just go for the cruise but I entered my in the show yesterday and won best Chevrolet
If you’re anywhere nearby this is one of the best shows/cruise around. Usually about 300 car for the show and a cruise down 3rd street after the show https://m.facebook.com/groups/215229...der&view=group |
