OK Guys would you keep the wheels or would you change over to one ton?
If so WHY?
As far as changing tires. There are very few people who will change split rim wheels! They Run when I pull up. "Sorry INSURANCE will not let us change those" They call them Widow Makers"
DO I have any options on other rims that may fit this the way it is.
YES This is a serious question. I saw a solid ring (non split rim)that was on a Firetruck one time, but the guy knew nothing about where to get them and how to mount them.
I know some of you have more info for help on this one.

If that is a 10 lug pattern that comes on most 4500 and a up now days then any Alcoa wheel should work on them. Assuming it is a standard 18 wheeler wheel then look up those. Although from what I can see it looks like a 5 lug wheel.

Is there any way to convert the large 5 lug to the 10 bolt without adapters? Just curious for my own sake. Might wanna tackle one of these one day in the future...

Your cheapest option Tallcrown is to switch axles from a Kodiak or similar truck. Those are dayton hubs you have and I doubt you'll find a non split rim to put the tires on. You might check school buses for axles and wheel parts. That will be your best bet on finding non split rims. Are your tires 22.5's?

Years ago when I was just out of high school, i worked for a company that made dump trucks. If I remember right, we use to convert those to bud style wheeld?hubs. Which would let you bolt up regular 10 bolt semi rims. Might try a search for converting from dayton to bud hubs.

this is my dads old work truck, 12 years later and you can still pick of the concrete and tar. i can thank this truck fro getting into older trucks in the first place. its not mine but one day i would grab hood and top grill trim peice for it and get a few patch pannels for it. i would also take off the one running board ha

I would look into 90's Kodiac, dump truck, or school bus axles.

man i wish it was my shop....its the shop my brother works at ,they do auto body and paint, i paint houses ( more foregiving lol ) they are leting me do some tear down on my dually conversion in their heated shop.....they will do the paint....black crew and 67 are my brothers i need to get more pics of his crew :metal:

My Wheels are presently 20" . I was just thinking that if I find NON SPLIT rims. Wow Truck tires like this are really heavy duty. Not like a car tire where they have flex and could be mounted on a regular machine.
Has anyone else run into being turned away from tire shop for having split rims?

I used to repair and change out those tires/rims. Definetly death machines. Those rings come loose and you had better run for cover. We used a metal cage and had them chained into it when the tires were aired up. Seen a few get bat$hit crazy. I know here they are illegal to use on the smaller 1 ton older trucks now. Won't pass a safety.

They're soon to be out lawed on heavy duty commercial trucks in the US as well. I hate doing them. If yours are 20" I'd at least call a bus junk yard or something like that to try to swap hubs out. From what I know of those 20" Dayton hubs on those years GM medium duty trucks, you're going to need to just swap axles. I could be wrong though.

The more I look at my truck compared to other "designer" Trucks. I have decided to keep the Dayton Hubs. Just I have to come up with NON split rim ones. with Easier ride tires.
My rear and front already have Disc Brakes. Bearings are great. The look is TUFF. But the split rim is the only thing that bothers me, Because people will not change the tires for me.

Can anyone lead me to tubeless wheels that will fit on this. I even found a picture of the adapter to mount these on a regular tire machine.But no wheels yet.

drove this one to my house last night , not mine though, a friend just bought it........three hour trip and it ran great......has some rust (washington rain forest) .he may put the other bed on or a flat bed, gonna be a ranch/huntin rig :metal:
