Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
It ain't much but at least I did something on the truck. I installed a Cherokee front door check with the two detent spots. Nice and smooth.

Thanks for posting that! I had forgotten that's something we need to do with mine. I remember a thread talking about the Cherokee door checks a while back, but I'm not sure if it had actual part #'s. Sometime during it's life before me, my driver's door suffered the typical crease associated with the door flinging open too far. |
Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Nice build DURG. I'm for sure following this one to the end. I may have missed it, but what did you end up doing on the transmission? You said you had a 400 and you were thinking about going through it to make sure it was up to snuff. Are you running the 400 or something else?

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
I had a turbo 350 lockup tranny not a 400. I bought a new non lockup turbo 350 from TCI.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Glad to see you back on the truck, how did the rear tubs come out?

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Still at body work and paint. He is spraying the underside with rubberized undercoating.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Sweet build! Is the rear sway bar from speedway engineering?

Installed the other Cherokee door check. Welded one small patch in left floorboard. I am just going to screw 1/4-20 button head bolts into the old mirror mounting holes where I took the large side view windows off. I need a second hand to hold a dolly inside to flatten out where the screws went in so a plastic washer can seal between the door and underside of the button head screw. I think I am going to use spanish oak on the bed wood. It's pretty dark. |

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Actually did something on the truck today. Sandblasted the radiator support, high hump, lower fender mounts and front frame to hinge mount braces. Also painted it all black except the high hump which I have some more grinding to do on the patch for the shifter hole. Nothing worth taking pictures of. Always fun sand blasting in July.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Love this truck. Always look forward to updates.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Welded in new kick panel patches. Got the new rear bumper gravel guards so the rear brackets and bumper can go on. I just bought an aftermarket stock type chrome bumper, as this truck had an accessory step and tow on it.

Cab going back on. Slow no-tech way of doing it. Jacks, blocking etc.
