Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100
I'm hoping to get one pretty soon
Since my kick panel on the driver side was rotted, I just went ahead and bought another complete A-Pillar/Kick-panel assembly like I said in my previous post |

Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100
Definitely a lot of sheet metal work to be done but keep at it a piece at a time and you will get there. Just dont give up. It will be worth it in the end.

Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100

Here are some more photos for y'all to enjoy
I was test fitting the front fenders to see what the front would look like, still waiting on the headlight patch panels A friend put a new master cylinder in the truck since the original started going bad and I didn't want to chance having an accident |
Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100
I'm debating on going with another cab, since mine
is so rusted. It'll be cheaper to replace it rather than paying 5,000 or so to fix the cab. I can still keep the original cab in my barn |

Took off the grille support and soon to dismount the cab and prep it for rust repair and primer/paint... This is going to be a very nice truck
The plan is to have the cab fixed Repaint the inner fenders have the front fenders fixed have the bodywork done to the front end and have it painted and put back on Super excited to see this restoration begin again |

Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100
Keep after it, when doing a patch just ask yourself is it better than it was, Yes is usually the answer. It don't have to be perfect, most trucks aren't that's what gives them character , do the best you can with what you got, and enjoy it.

Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100
what do you estimate the cost of repairs to be compared to the cost of a new cab? new cab comes with doors too, right? could be close and the new cab gets you that much closer to a finished truck you can enjoy beeddling around in. if doing it again I would seriously consider the new cab for the time difference alone and the cost gets pretty close if you honestly add up everything you use to fix the old one.
your truck, your wallet, do what you like. post pics though. nothing like pics of a build to get the rest of us off the couch. |
Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100
there is also a complete floor available, with steps and rockers
