Re: GM Semis
I believe that Cracker Box came from my home town.
Looks like it is a '66. Bill |
Re: GM Semis
Great pics, All hail the General!!!, Man those are beautiful!.

Re: GM Semis
That General w/dual breathers (big ones) is quite a set-up. I wonder if the red Astro is the one I took pictures of at Macungie.

Re: GM Semis
Sure looks the same. Although I believe it's a Titan.

Re: GM Semis
its the one most looking like a 60's chevy though
its allmost like they took the photo of a pickup through one of thouse laughningmirror programs on the computer https://lh4.ggpht.com/RHc1gLACRi2DDZ...7hcM9hHtc=w170 |
Re: GM Semis
Id take most any of these to haul my trucks around to shows!

Re: GM Semis
that truck wouldve been about 6 feet longer nowadays
would make a great base for a hotrod though i might take out the middle axle and stretch the sleeperpart all the way to the rear of the chassis and make it intoo a camper |

Insured coming out of Fremont Ca The C50 in the bottom of a 96" trailer is wild Photo credit goes to PAcarhauler on flickr |
Re: GM Semis
is it just me, or did they not put sleepers on any of the older semi's. I've seen quite a few cracker boxes with sleepers, but very few early to mid 60's conventionals with sleepers.

Re: GM Semis
i dont think they had regulated drive and rest times back then and people prolly where glad they had a job too , they prolly just propped a pillow against the doorframe put some cardboard across to cover the hole between the seats and keep the gearstick from poking them and slept that way or slept next to their load in the back
motels where prolly cheaper back in those days too |
Re: GM Semis
Drive time has been regulated since the 40's. I'd hazard a guess the the union guys where motel bound.

Like the truck as well as the '56 Chevys behind it. I've owned a few through the years.
