own 2 1967 chevy long fleetsides.one 3.4 ton and 1 1/2 ton and also a 1986 shortbed half ton,non chrome model, carbed. the 1/2 ton is my main truck.it has a 327,.030 flat topped pistons, camel hump 2.02's,ssi 442 lift cam very thumpy, high pitch noisy gear drive, edelbrock torker intake, holley 700 with mechanical secondaries, hei distributor, accel supercoil,8mm wires, currently looking for a tunnel ram decently priced, dual or single carb, and looking for some roller rockers.posi 411 rear...bought the truck for 100$ sitting neglected in a yard in mud its sitting on some free 31's i got on can opener triangle pattern wheels, looks awesome.2wd.thinking about doing a crossmember drop, flip the centerlink, axel under arms in the rear for a lift, try to fit 36's or so or just lower it dont know yet, possibly rat rod, but all i know is the motor sounds good, and with the turbo 400,itll breake the 31's loose through most of the gears, its the daily driver/hot rod for when i do even get my liscence, cant wait whoo i have a 396 hi-perf ratt motor going into the shortbed:D YES,i have worked off every bit of money i have gotten into these trucks, even though im only 15. sophmore. |
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!

Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
so after having my engine rebuilt the truck was back at the shop last weekend and finally got it back today, with a brand new edle brock carb and manifold. truck runs like a totally new truck now, except for the gears.
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
Not a bad looking truck Relish.
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
My plans are to get it running, swap it to a 4 barrel carb, get headers and put 3 inch exhaust with cherry bomb glasspacks for now.
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
nice and rck i hope you win so the 67-72 chevys don't look bad.
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
crap today as im driving i started smelling gas, nothing unnormal, but then a burning smell came from under the hood, and my gas gauge is getting lower by the min. i pull over and see that the fuel line has burst a litle. crazy after all that work and money, the guy couldnt have put a new fuel line when they rebuilt the engine and put and new/different carb and manifold

Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
well i got my truck running today after rebuilding the carb and getting a new gas tank. once we got it running me and my dad each got a milk crate for a seat and drove from the gas station to my house and back to the station. i found out that milk crates make good temperary seats.

Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
i just graduated highschool, but my junior year i drove my 1983 chevy, then sold it and bought the 1970 i have that i drove to school my senior year. i have done everything on my own, my father believes it teaches me a life lesson or something like that.. i dk lol, but i am pretty proud of what i have done. all the work was also done by myself on both trucks. i also started a car club with some of my friends called H.M.H.R. meaning home made hot rods. it was pretty fun, but now they're all going to college and i'm going to the navy.. i have pics of both on cardomain, just click the link to see it

Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
relish, i like your truck, that will make a great sleeper, don't make it look good lol, put performance first. what size engine do you have?
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
here is something yall should like. Hot rod magazine has a 71 chevy truck they made a sleeper out of that they put on their website. i have read this article so many times i practically have it memorized lol. Here is the link http://www.hotrod.com/projectbuild/1...ine/index.html

Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
marc70chevy, my truck has a 307 in it. i liked the aricle from hot rod on the sleeper c10. your current truck looks good and your old truck also looked good.
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
snoman, what size carb did you get and what brand, and what kind of intake manifold
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
that sleeper article said that the low option half ton lwb was 4400 pounds. I'm wondering where they hid the lead? A new (Chevy of course) lwb is just barely that much?
|
Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
thats how much they weigh. my 1970 lwb says it weighs 4400

Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!
Hey everyone. Alot of nice trucks on here. I personally got my truck a few days after graduating, so I don't really classify as HS student, but I'm only 19 so lets pretend I was held back a year :). But anyways, heres my 1969 short step. I'm the 3rd owner of this truck, and had only 102,000 miles on it when I got it. $1800 later and a 3.5/5" drop, 5x5 front disc convert, original 250, s10 t-5. I love this truck. I even get atleast one or two complements a week (at the gas station, since I'm there alot, drive almost 75 miles a day, :(). But here she is with her new rims, kinda. Was digging through the shop today and low and behold I found the wheel covers off my moms old 93ish caprice classic. Snapped on perfectly.
