Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Yeah that's the great thing about our country's economic sector now. People that are working hard, paying their bills, and trying to make it don't get the benefits. Have you looked into another lender? When we first bought our house our loan got sold to two different lenders in a year. So I refinanced with a local bank here. I actually got a better rate, more knowledge, and I know that if I have a problem I can talk to them directly. Maybe something to consider. I know right now a lot of the lenders are not lending money as easy as they were a couple of years ago.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Sorry to hear about your luck, Dennis. Like John said, check out a local bank, or even a credit union. We did a cash out refi on our house at the first of the year with a large bank (they held the original loan) and it took forever. I thought that it should go quick since it would be all internal, but I was dead wrong. I wish I had shopped it around a little bit. I think the smaller banks realize that they need to make money too, so they are a little more receptive lately. The only problem is that around here, they all keep getting bought out by the bigger, lousy service banks.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
yea, the great thing about this wonderful state is we bought this house worth $340,000 at the time and paid $280,000. now 3 years later its worth $200k if were lucky. no one will touch it. and people wonder why there is so many foreclosures... we are stuck right now. and all our options are not good ones.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
our "financial advisor" really screwed us over getting into this house and what makes me sick is that we (I) didnt know any better. i made a promise to my wife that things would be okay and i'll be damned if i'm going to let anything bad happen to her/us like loosing or home.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
I hear you. I have a rent house, and the tenants have not paid since May. I can't get them out. My only choice to keep from destroying my credit is to pay two mortgages, and hope the courts will finally let me evict them. The only good thing about this is as soon as it is empty, I am selling it just to get away from it. Then I am going to buy a toy. Want to move to Texas?

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Another good reason to move out of CA. just kidding man. I hate to hear you are going through this. Like I said before keep your head up, and just take it one day at a time. Remember we are here to help in any way we can, and even if it's just for you to vent. You can do it man, you have it in you!!!

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Sorry to hear about the house Dennis. The build is still awesome, I don't like it when they go too quick anyway!
We're going through a similar situation, moved from FL 3 years ago and the house never sold, owe $250K and paid every bill (on two houses) until recently we decided that throwing another $75K down a black hole while the market recovers for 3 more years is not an option plus we lost the renter. Every bank and program considers us "investers" since it's not our primary residence, no loan mods even entertained. Accepted an offer of $130K yesterday trying to get short sale approval. 740 credit scores are now in the tank and home ownership went from a dream to a nightmare. BUT!!!...we'll all get over it and someday be telling our grandkids about the great housing crash wayyyy back in 'Ought-Seven'. |

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Man that sucks Dennis . I just logged on and decided to check on your progress . Instead I read about the refi issues . Definitely a downer . I am sure you will come out OK since you obviously arent one to bail , but it sucks that people have to default and actually wreck their credit , in order to get assistance . Seems familiar doesnt it . Govt passes laws and forces banks to make bad loans in the first place , said loans crash the housing market when bad loan holders cant pay , then the only people that are eligible for help in the first round is that same deadbeats that have defaulted on the loans that everyone knew they would default on when the loan was made . Sorry for the rant and I hope things work out for you quickly .

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
I'm late coming to this thread, but I wanted to point something out.
You need to change your upper ball joint bolts around. The bolt head is supposed to be under the arm and the washer and nut on top of the arm. I know it's backwards from most standards, but there is a reason for it. When the ball joint boots get fully compressed at ride height and bulged out with grease, the exposed bolt ends will rub through the boots, ruining them. It's one of those little details I remember from a suspension class about 15 years ago. Sorry for butting in, I just wanted to try and save you some heartache and expense on such a nice build. |
Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Dennis, hope everything is going OK for ya man. This market definately sucks for sure. Just keep your head up and keep on keepin on. You have a wonderful family and that is the most important thing anyone can posess. After all the housing issues and credit BS, you'll still have that family. Best of luck to ya and hope all is well. Ooh, almost forgot... That truck is SICK.
I Love it. |

Hate to hear about the bad loan. Bad enough with the economy that took a dive from the fannie mae/freddie mac collapse last year and now we're learning about all the crooks in the financial housing loan sector as well. Hope you can recover and *really* hope you can get back to your build. You have an amazing vision of what you want your truck to look like! Wade |

Looks great Dennis. I`m kinda looking for another truck and yours is giving me some inspiration to get going on one. I got a line on a 81 fully loaded but I`m waiting to hear back from the guy. don`t let the money thing get you down. or make you go at the rest of the truck half a**ed. The truck is going to be awsome when it`s done.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
thanks for all the words of encouragement. you guys are the best!
here's an update! it is official. i am really looking for a 6.0 drivetrain now!!;) checked out 2 yesterday and not sure the route i'm gonna go with the trans yet. the LQ9 comes in esclades and denalli's but they are backed by either a 60e or 65e. Larry at GM Specialized Parts Planet (rancho recyclers) will put an 80e behind the LQ9 for the same price of $2500. i have a few emails out to nelson performance and wait for me perf. to find out what all is involved with the wiring and ecm when i go from the 60e to the 80e. i'm going to give them both a call on monday to see what has to be done. 1 downer is the new arrival (complete) 6.0 they have now has 100k on it already and i know these motors are good for 300k+ but i just have a hard time putting that high a miles motor in something i have worked so hard to get where its at. lower miles would just be piece of mind for me. i'm just going to keep bugging them every few days till i get what i want:lol: :metal: |
