Also on the note of disc brakes I was finally able to get alil time to devote to the rear disc brakes and getting them finalized for possible productions runs of the adapter plates. Got everything mocked up and the plates are 50 thousandths to thin so have the new dimensions set so the caliper will be centered on the rotors in the rear when I get the plates made up and ready. All in all enjoying coming up with this lil thing for my truck has been a real learning curve so far lol. Currently talking to a machining service up this way about the best material to make them out of and probable costs to do so in batches of 26 plates and stainless locator pieces. They said just to set it up as a print so that I can take them to any shop with the designing specs runs about 120$ so if nothing else I am doing that for sure. Will know more when I get over there in January to see what they can work out as far as the best materials n such to make this a reality

Here are some better pics of everything on the truck mocked up. Pardon the rusty parts lol that will be fixed soon as I have the extra funds to run a load down to the powder coating shop soon.

in the process of being patient awaiting the body to get painted started working on the vortec 8.1 accessory brackets for the front of the engine. I am using a combination of the Silverado and Kodiak brackets to get everything where I want it in the engine compartment which is taking a lil head scratching and spacing to get things lined up lol.. So far I have it roughed in just waiting till I get my water pump and alt and a few other things together to finalize it and then find a belt to fit this beast. the 8.1 is definitely a nice engine since they have multiple different setups for several different trucks :D the hardest one to find is the danged kodiak truck ac bracket which you definitely do not want to try and order new from gm at 550$. I got lucky and found one at a HD truck salvage yard recently for quite a bit less lol..

few things have happened since the last update. some good some bad :/ . First off was in contact with a speed shop in Oklahoma for some headers for the 8.1.... He started the whole deal off offering me a free set of dana 60 gears 3.73 ratio he said he had laying around his shop.... Which let to me mentioning I needed some tight tuck rear dump style headers for my engine... The guy said oh no problems there 375$ and your done..... Sent him the 375....... Then he is waiting for them to come in and mentioned he knows of a company working on a 8 pack stack injection manifold for the 8.1 engines and they needed someone to test fit it and get it running..... I start drooling and ask him hmmm who do I talk to??? get the email address and email them.... 495$ they said and The guy will sign you up with us for test products they said...... 3 weeks later nothing no headers no "experimental engine intake manifold"...... post up on his company facebook page "Hey what's going on I am looking forward to the headers and the test parts???", One of the members of the page and apparently his neighbor messages me did you know hes in jail?? find out the SOB is in jail awaiting pickup by the US marshalls service? sooo hmmm I guess I ain't getting my parts :/ Currently disputing it through paypal so hopefully slim hope I will get my money back especially if the marshalls seize all of his assets for fraud :/ should know something more here soon from paypal.....

And on the brighter note the body shop guy just let me know he about has the floor pan massaged in place one fenders is done and he needs a few more patch panels lol...... started out as a 1800 lets do a couple of things to a 9k paint job rotflmao not that I am complaining since the wife "encouraged" me since we were doing a few things to go all out lol......

And last couple of days without the family here finished the bench programming harness assembly for when I get hp tuners in my hands! Will be moving the desktop out to the workbench for awhile lol..

Tuesday wife son and the mother in law headed to Oklahoma...... Next morning I get a call from her saying the car was in a wreck and we are having it towed to Price Utah for a looksee..... :/ its like hell in a hand basket what next????? Radiator toasted ac system toasted front bumper trashed wiper system taken out....... Well new radiator 677$ towards my deductible ac system still remains to be fixed as the rest of the damage so waiting till she gets back this week to see how badly this turns out lol sheesh I told them take Bertha before they planned this trip "yeah she's a gas pig and all but you will be safe!!!!"

Hopefully they listen next time

But here are some pictures of the bench harness I just finished it is so nice having the proper crimping tools for this stuff lol

Well that sucks about the guy in OK. Hopefully you can get your money back thru PayPal. That's too bad about your wife's car also. You didn't say anyone got hurt so I assume that is the case?

On a positive note, your test harness is looking good :D

Well while waiting for body guy to get along with the work have started looking at some other tools I need in setting up brake lines and ac lines on the truck when it is closer to being done lol :D. {Picked up the rollers to build a brake lines straightening tool and my wife got me a nice surprise for Christmas.... Been drooling over this ac bead lock crimper kit for making my own ac lines custom to smurf.... Kept hinting to the wife about it and for Christmas what did I get but the tool been wanting for awhile now lol...... Paypal refunded me the money I spent with the guy so tomorrow ordering HP tuners so I can get the computers ready for when the trucks is up an assembled!

Let us know how the AC crimper works. I have been looking for one but don't know much about them.

Well getting the new 69 dana 60 to go in the truck here soon started working on the original hubs getting studs out of them geez what a pain in the ass had to monkey up a rednecked vise grip to get them out they were stuck in very well. But they are all out now and ready for some arp hardware to go in their place :D

trying to be patient waiting on body work to get done, Paid for the Allison trans rebuild today and ordered a few more things like the remainder of the arp bolts for the frame and parts, ordered the class 5 hitch assembly. Friday I am going to drop the axle off for strip down and rebuild with 3.73 gearing, Also drop by the machining company in Olympia and start the process to get more of the disc brake plates made and see what they think the best material will be to use. Luckily one of their design people used to make nascar parts so may have some good input on the critters I started several years ago will be coming to a final build for other that may want them on their trucks :D

Well the body repair is coming along nicely should be getting painted parts back soon. Also went a on a lil spending spree and got a few more things off the purchasing list and more stuff coming in next week :D . Found a nice spindle lock kit that will work on my dana so I don't have deal with them pia locking collars they used on them originally. Also got hp tuners in and will be tinkering with that here in the near future when the bench harness is totally completed.

Well the spindle lock setup didn't work on my 64 dana axle :/ so shipped it back to jegs and sent and email to the company that made it "they said oh yeah it will work just fine!!! yeah right!!!! Also got parts rolling in left n right while waiting on body work and finishing a friends truck repairs so tickled... vent windows, spare tire carrier, class 5 hitch setup, and a dirt cheap brand new mefi4/5 harness for the 8.1 (not sure yet what I am doing with that one but for a 100$ I wasn't gonna say no the frikkin relays on this thing are huge!!
The quality on the repop vent windows looks pretty good but will know for sure once they are installed in the doors of the truck and can give a full report on them best price on them is about 438 shipped I have found. Also the massive beast of a hitch 70 lbs worth. Need to get this other truck out of my hair so I can clamp this to the frame and start getting the holes lined up/drilled not sure what that's going to need just yet uses 9/16th bolts through the frame lol..

next on the list I have been being patient and thinking how to get a good spare tire hoist under my truck well I hate to say it f*** made the perfect setup for my truck I am just repurposing what they did to work in my truck. I removed the security lock with a screw driver and a 3/8 drive extension fits in the slot perfectly with a just a lil side to side maneuverability. and best thing is its 23 or so inches long.. the last two rear frame braces in the 64 are 22.5 inches apart front to back so will be clamping it to the frame mark the holes and bolt it in place once the holes are dilled!

and last but not least another wiring harness to play with hehe.... Looking at an idea to mount the trans, ecm, and tac module on the engine and make some covers for them so far not quite happy with how the places I have them currently mounted in look. Looks sloppy to me so going to give it a whirl and see what I can do with it should have them marine computer mounting brackets in next week. Plus a guy in my 8.1 group is trading me out a modified 8.1 factory manifold for my oddball one that only has one threaded vacuum port on it where apparently most of them have 2??!!??
Hoping another 2 weeks I can get my coworkers truck buttoned up and out of my hair got lots to do and never enough time anymore :/

well got the marine harness all apart and new pcm connectors for the 8.1 computer along with a set of marine engine computer mounting brackets to play with so far the test fit looks really good going to have to fab up some lower braces for both sides and move and redrill the holes for the tcm a lil bit but I will be able to mount the tac module Allison tcm and 8.1 engine computer on top of the engine.. Lil work with some abs and will compliment the mercruiser cover quite nicely! love trial and error projects since I learn so much from them :D

Got the braces fabbed and completed just need to paint them soon when I get the engine cleaned and ready for painting. Next up when the Allison comes back home will be to mount the wiring harness in place and shorten all of the wires down to fit the new configuration may have to make a few longer leads for the firewall plug in but have the wire making that and easy task :D.. Once that is all done will be time to make the abs covers for both sides of the engine.

the replacement dana 60 axle is in the shop getting rebuilt picked up the housing from the powder coaters the other day should have it finished mid February and have it back in place so I can move the frame around as needed. Also started the final rework and build on the fuel injection harness setup still have a ways to go with it but coming along nicely. Body guy is taking his time so right now can plan things out and not have to rush anything :D

spare tire hoist is in place and working beautifully plenty of space for the trie to mount up without any clearance issues just need a longer 3/8 ratchet extension to clear the edge of the tire now and another project fully complete. Still waiting on the body guy to get along further he got all the patching done on the cab so soon will be getting body parts home and have to start building assembly frames to put things together on the bed.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

have not got a whole heck of a lot done been working lots of hours to pay for things lol. I did get hp tuners and my bench harness up and working today also got the interior fuse box labeling done today. Dropped the springs off to have the 2ndary rate spring pack put back in them ( last owner removed them for ride comfort :/ ) Will be picking up the axle this weekend as it is finished and ready to put back in :D next up experimenting with electric window motors out of an astro van lol will see if it is a strong enough motor for my idea to play with lol :D
Body parts should start rolling in in the next few weeks which means an unhappy mother in law since the other half of the garage is where there going! also once the frame is rolling again taking it by the pressure washer and getting it cleaned up lol
