Well it was a bit brisk today and below the 50 degrees recommended for painting but i fired up the wood burning stove and did it anyway...
So I painted the back of the second fender and also finished removing the paint from the front of the first. Then I let the fenders sit and started working on the hood hinges I grabbed when i got the fender.. So I wired the crap out of then and I may live to regret it but I painted them red... Now its fairly cold out so im hoping they dry by morning but its hard to say.... Im thinking the red/black look will be a nice accent but maybe not we will see |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Either way, I think your paintwork was good quality. It all looks good to me.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Just some rust-oleum nothing special...Not sure how well the red is gonna stick though....
Thanks though |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Well it was definetly too cold...The hinges are still tacky this morning...I have them sitting out in the sun to get them to dry. Hopefully they will dry in the next hour so i can flip them and hit the other side

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
They look sweet man, definitely enjoying seeing the little things, you make me want to step up my game another level lol but its back to square one with me again truck in a non running state.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
what happened? why is it not running?
the red looks good but i didnt get the hinges as clean as i though...a few spots didnt hold the paint well but most is all good.. |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Well its either the started or ignition, went and drove it literally all day yesterday cranked fine ran fine everything was running tip top shape, and this morning went to go drop off some scrap and get rope, went to a part store to get some rope turned it off came to start it up again made a click noise but didn't start then after that nothing no power to the gauges or anything had battery checked battery is fine.
i hear you, just think man like me i ain't perfect at nothing I do, practice makes perfect though |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
dang thats crazy
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
oh well part of owning a truck the age that it is. just thankful I wasn't across town when it all went down, and also that i was at a part store thankfully. but a guy suggested a way to check the starter so I'm going to climb under the truck in a few minutes and test it.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
yeah hit it a few times with a wrench and see if it will start
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I hear you man, I dont blame you for wanting it to run right, hopefully for me I aint got nothing special going on so I'll prolly start sanding down my truck.
|

The Positive Terminal: ![]() Negative Terminal: ![]() |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
those make me want to get them too, I probably will end up doing it too haha. I have to do simple things up until march, so probably start fixing some exterior issues get the truck all sanded down and what not.
What kind of pain did you use for the fender? |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
The backs are just painted with Rust-Oleum Professional Enamel I grabbed at lowes...1 Can per fender which amounts to 2 coats... Its Gloss Black
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Sweet!! I'm going to have to go pick up a few cans myself.
