Unfortunately you have to waste your time! But its come to this, its time to talk face to face! Time to pay the piper!

Four flat tires equal about $400.00... Just saying.

Wes, I drove by there yesterday afternoon, no one home and no Blazer in sight.

He has got to come home sometime. I was going up that way to look at a Cameo, so I might just stop by. I am also going to look into other ways to mess with this guy. Maybe turn this over to a collection agentcy... They are good at harrassing people.. WES

Re: Someone in Everett, WA.

I'd be careful about slashing tires at that address. Being a scammer, he may have just used that address as a front to make himself look legit under casual observation because the people who live there have the last name as he does... he may or may not live there or be affiliated with them.

I'd try to pin down his exact name, first, middle and last. With that you will be able to look up his current address, phone number, email and arrest history if any. Doesn't matter if he constantly changes those, you will always be able to find him.

Re: Someone in Everett, WA.

Eh, I just cross referenced his name, business and address, and they all seem to match up so I take back what I said about him using the wetmore address as a front. If it is a front, he's done a pretty good job of it, and if it's his real address and name, he isn't too bright.

Collection Agencies do suck Wes, do that. I'm dealing with them because of HeavyMetalChevy still, its been since Sept and still haven't got it straightened out

Re: Someone in Everett, WA.

You'll need a civil judgement against him before a collection agency could start harassing him, and they'd probably charge you $500 to chase $376. Take him to small claims court and get the judgement. If you never get any money back, at least you wrecked his credit report.

Re: Someone in Everett, WA.

No need for a judgement for a collection agency. I have used them befor on people who gave me a bad credit card number at a swap meet. They do it for a percentage of the collection. Of coarse they tack on their attourney fees if they wind up in court, but those are also collected from the debtor. At this point it is not the money,,, It is the fact that I don't like being scammed and I don't want it to happen to someone else. So if this A-holes life is made misserable for the next several years then maybe he will think about it befor he does it again. And if he doesn't want his miserable life even made more miserable then he will pay up... WES

This guy needs to learn his lesson. I'll keep calling him, that's for sure.

I think Wes is right about the collections agencies, my employer has never got a judgement against him, that is who they are after since it was picked up at my work

Wes... While you're of course right about the simple moral issue of this dude stealing your money, I'm of the humble opinion that you're on the edge of stupid. At some point you'll need to remind yourself that:

1) it wasn't the smartest move in the world to give over money with the truck unseen and dude unmet,

2) people who pull such stunts as your "seller" did are not to be considered normal, stable or lesson-teachable, and

3) with the advent of the internet, no one can ever be considered safely anonymous from retribution if you finally drive the a-hole over his wobbly, shaky edge.

It's not worth having your house lit on fire in the middle of the night - or as just showed up in the news - bulldozed - because some freak decided he was tired of midnight phone calls.

I think you should take him to court or just mark down the loss as a won't-do-that-again, and move on.

My 2 cents. Good luck.

It's the principle of the thing now. I doubt Wes is too worried about the money.

I'd put a post on Craigs List to warn others about this a$$hole and renew periodically just to make sure someone else doesn't fall for the scam.

If possible, make life miserable for him to keep him honest and either take him to court or notify King-5 as "oldman" posted above. Also, put a trace the western union money order to see when it was cashed and by whom if possible.
Contact Craigslist to see if they can find original ad.

Re: Someone in Everett, WA.

Has anyone tried to see if the "Guthrie Construction" exists? Found one in Port Hadley under different name, nothing in the Everett area. Thought if someone local could check at the court house, to see if there is a "Guthrie Construction" . If there is one, maybe a local person could set up a meeting with "Scott" and talk about a construction job. Have some friends near by, then casually mention "Chevy Blazer" for sale and the name "Wes", then see what happens? Has anyone else thought of this? Just a thought. Mike.

Agreed. It was nice to see the board rally behind you, but this all started with a bad choice on your part (OP). With talk of slashing tires now, etc. this can only end badly.
