Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
A little update: I've been getting a lot of little things finished up, the steps are installed, a drive indicator light is installed and most important I've been driving the snot out of it. 400 miles in the last 3 days. It is now my daily driver as the '46 is loosing an engine (rod knock). On the plus side the COE is running great and the 4.8L has more power then I expected. I did a 0 to 60 test using the GPS speedo function and it runs 7.39 seconds, not bad at all. I need to post some more videos of the shifter working and a general drive to give an idea of how it turned out for now. I will also pick up the steel for the bed tomorrow.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Great work on it and congrats on racking up the miles on it! Sorry to hear about your 46.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Great news on the running of the COE, sorry about the 46...Jim

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Sounds like the 46 is getting jealous now.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Thanks all, Yeah, I think all the other vehicles are suffering from a bit of neglect. So does it look like a new flat bed? I hope to have it framed up and mounted by Thursday night. Needs to be ready to go for sure by Friday night, as do tail lights and some sort of storage container. Do the projects or tasks never end on these old pieces of junk?

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
so cool, can't wait to see how the bed turns out.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Looks like the tires tuck under the fenders real nice.
Good looking work. |
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Making progress, 3 1/2 hours later: The main frame is all welded up, tomorrow I will start mounting the runners to the frame. The ends look like crap but I will gring those back down and install caps later. I will also be removing the 3rd cross brace up for the fenders.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
nice progress. so not sure if I remember or not, (don't actually) but with the harness and ecm, did you rework it or just leave it how it was? where I'm getting at is what kind of mpg's you think your getting?
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Nice work Rob. You are flying. Good luck on your trip!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Thanks AD, 99, I reworked the harness myself using info I found on LT1SWAP.COM great site. I also had him (Brandon) reprogram my ECM. In my case I had to adjust the length of every wire, some how I got them all right. For MPG I'm not sure where it's at. I will be checking it this coming week end and let you know. If I had to guess I would say 14/18.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Lookin real good. That bed should hold what ever you want to put on there.
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Thanks all, lets see here....whats goes on the bed? I'm thinking a cooler, a recliner, one of those big leaf fans with a pretty girl fanning me down. Yea, that's what I'm thinking.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
OK, now we're getting some where. Bed is framed and on, new lights work. My wife even got into the game tonight and installed some temporary carpet.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Whoo ya, that is what I have been waiting for, coming together, how much time do you have.
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
I meant before you go on your trip, you are taking the 47 COE aren't you.
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Love the carpet. Maybe just leave it, if it gets dirt just replace lol

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Nice work on the flat bed! It's looking great!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
How much time do I have? 12 hours. Now my cruise doesn't work. LED tail lights! I need to fix that tonight for sure. Also need to mount a storage box, wire the cigarette lighter (boom box power) and do a quick nut and bolt inspection. The money shots.
