Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Then the fronts got a few coats of the high temp silver, and the axles got some black:

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Looks great! You're making me jealous! I'm interested in seeing what it takes to hook up the emergency brake cables. My calipers just showed up yesterday complete from pads to cables, but it's all pretty ugly used stuff.

I wonder is that same modification is needed on the C4 spindle?
I guess I'll know soon enough. :) |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Well, I ran into a minor snag on the rear brake conversion: I got the new bearings in and went to put the seals on... wrong size  Since this is my driver I have to wait for my GF to get home so a can make a NAPA run...
But I roll with the punches; Got one of the front rotors installed with all new bearings and fresh red stuff. Now back out to do the other side! http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...3993Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...3992Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...3995Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...3998Medium.jpg |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Truck is coming together very nicely I am addicted to this thread. That seems to be the norm on the rotors for wheels that have caps I had to do the same.
|
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Geez, man. New hub caps are like $2 a pair at NAPA... :) jk- lookin' good. Just ordered my rotors today. You should make a commission off of all the sales this thread has led to. Hell, my purchases alone could fund your next mod:lol:

Frizzle, Sorry, I should have stated that I'm running the same wheels but since it's a defferent spindle I may not have the same problem. I'll know soon enough. I'm gonna try to actually start something on my truck tomorrow. :o: I have to check my kid's schedules and make sure there aren't any basketball games or birthday parties or .................. you get the picture. :waah: |

Got the other side done. Also figured out the rear end outer seals after two more trips to NAPA... Not sure why the part numbers weren't correlating. Here's the passenger side. Rear brakes will go together tomorrow:metal:
http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...3999Medium.jpg Don't mind my fender pocket; it's getting a whole new clip ;) http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4000Medium.jpg |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Drivers side is 98% done. Still waiting on the correct bracket and another ebrake cable for the pass-side. BTW both cables are the same P/N even though NAPA calls out a driver and passenger side... The P/N I used is 94724 for both.
http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4004Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4006Medium.jpg ebrake cable routing; the length is perfect for this configuration: http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4010Medium.jpg I'll add another clamp further forward on the trailing arm: http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4011Medium.jpg I need to get some new retainer clips, but I think the OE style will work perfectly here: http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4019Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4015Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4018Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4029Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4026Medium.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4023Medium.jpg |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Looking damn good I see your getting the rain too... How much block do you have in the rear..

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
This picture looks cool. I so much want to dislike big wheels but you guys sure make them look good.
Coming along nicely Frizzle! http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...4029Medium.jpg |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Frizzle,
I just realized that's the same tire I'm running, different size though (275/45x20). Have you been able to put many miles on them yet? Just curious what you think. They were recommended by Jim at the TireRack so I figured they'd be good. |

I am also running the Parada Spec X great tires. I have nothing but good things to say about Yoko's I run them on my 4 banger, and my Tahoe as well.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Looking good! Heck with as small as those brakes look I bet you will be able to change pads with out removing the rim:lol:

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
FF, maybe I missed it, but how are you connecting the caliper to the brake lines? Is it a rubber line or a hard line? Thanks,
R/ |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Just rerouted the OE hardline and used the thread adapters supplied in glock's bracket kit:

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Thanks, I was just making sure. All my other cars that had rear discs used a rubber line to go from the caliper to the axle. Since it uses a hard line, I'm assuming that part of the caliper doesn't move.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
From that picture, that part of the caliper does move. I'd recommend getting some rubber or braided hose in there. It's a very small movement and might be ok, but you'd hate to work harden the steel and get a crack...

I've been trying to get the pics on page 1 and 2 for days now and all I get are red xs. Is any one else having the same problem? I can see the recent ones just not the earlier shots. Any one have a suggestion on how I can remedey this? Thanks, Michael

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Michael,
I'm good but there are about 50 pics on the first page alone. Maybe your browser is timing out? Maybe a Ctrl/F5 will help or clear your temp files and try again. Dunno. Might be worth a try. |

Let's see, are you the one with the orange sweat shirt and matching hair?
I pictured you looking a bit older than that. |

Thanks for the link, Mike. I can see clearly, now.....
