Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I just dont have all the inserts for them. I bought a s10 and they only had like 2-3 on each wheel
|
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
sorry for thread jacking 198. what rims are they the S/S or the 610? and how much did you spend for them if you dont mind. I need to sell mine. I have no use for them. The chrome is chipping off so they need to be blasted.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Try PEP Boys. They might have them.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Went out tonight and changed my 6 lug rearend to my new 5 lug 3.07....God it's so much fun doing this by yourself and trying not to scratch it.
Guess I'll start the 5 lug swap next.......Looking real forward to getting the ball joint rivets out. |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I dont get anywork done when threads like these are up on the board. GOSH!
Locking in to watch Alan work..... Roadhammer:chevy: |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Went out this evening and started my cheap disc brake swap using 1987 spindles...... Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be getting the rivets out of the top ball joints....... The hard parts over with now it's all tore apart and ready for re-assembly.....Pics coming soon.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
cant wait to see the finish project. Is Alan working on anything right now?
|
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I talked to him Saturday, he's just chilling out a little right now....Soon as my doors get finished he should be back working on my truck and finishing it up.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Well things aren't working out to good for me on my disc brake swap.......I guess the 87 spindles I bought are not 87's after I had them powder coated.......Wheel Bearing want fit......Backing plate hits lower a arm......What a pain in the A$$..........:smoke:

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
from 81-up there are 2 different spindles...one is for 1 inch rotors, and the other is for 1 1/4 inch rotors. the bearings don't inter-change
|
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Thanks.........But the backing plate shouldn't be rubbing on the end of the lower control arm, that's why I think these are the wrong spindles...Maybe they are 1988 and up ??????????????

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
pics would help....my '80 with 1 1/4" rotors (73-80 are all 1 1/4") has a cut out in the backing plate where it meets the lower arm.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Bolted on my front wheels tonight........Sure is nice not having to look at those 6 lug drum brakes.......Still need to put my calipers on and get rid of these small tires.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Have a question........If I use 2" drop springs for front will 4" drop springs in rear get the truck to set level.....Anyone have any pics of this combination
Thanks |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I would like to know the same thing. I have already purchased this combo. I have installed the front, but the motor is out so I can't really tell the difference.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Well I installed my engine tonight, headers fit like a glove........But problems exist :banghead:
I was trying to keep from moving engine forward to next set of holes, But my valve covers hit the firewall with these tall valve covers plus these aluminum heads have a 1/4" raised lip on them......... I guess I'll use some short valve covers since these heads have the raised lips, they should clear the roller rockers. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...es1/motor2.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...es1/motor3.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...untitled-1.jpg |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
looks good
|
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Looks good, you could always dent the firewall in to clear.
|
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
