I found it on craigslist. The guy listed it about 10 min before I ran across it. By the time I drove across town to get it, he had 3 other callers.

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

I will join in,but still have a lot of work to be road worthy again. I bought it for 300.00 back in 1989-90 and its a 1972 SWB with wooden bed,AC cab,PS,PB,even had the factory chrome rear bumper and from what I could tell had a 350/th350 combo but no engine and tranny when it was purchased by me.

I started cleaning up the truck and getting it ready when I found a buildable 454,so during the clean up process I had some parts in the bed of my brothers truck and one nite he parked it on the street in frt of the house only to find some nice parts like my factory chrome rear bumper and more stolen. I ended up removing the 72 cab in exchange for a $50.00 71 pretty solid non ac cab with typical rusty rockers in better shape. The truck was true 72 until I backed up into it with my jeep and ruined a cherry 72 shell,so I found a 68 entire frt clip for 50.00 and used it on the truck. I ended up getting the 454 built with a 350 tranny and actually on the street when I moved to Tulsa in the mid 90's. After quite a few drag strip passes at the Midnite Drags in Tulsa I spun a rod bearing so the truck sat until around 1994 with a wounded engine.

Moved back to FortSmith and the truck was sitting idle until I built a 408 small block for my street 67 Impala and a 327 for my drag 68 Nova at the same time, after around 2 years of very playful street driving the impala with 4.10's and 3500 10" stall with the 408,I decided to place that engine in the truck with stock stall convertor and open 3.08 gears........talk about fun stepping on the gas at 40 mph and blazin the right rear.

After going through a divorce and selling my 68 Drag Race Nova,I heartedly held on to my truck and started doing some work while trying to keep my sanity. I ended up doing alot of body work, ordered a ECE drop kit and customized it to a 5-8 slam job,and stopped there as it sits in its present day status like the garage pictures show.

This is the truck after 408 installed with home brew drop
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...hevyofmine.jpg
These 2 pictures were during the body work stages (notice door handles and cowl scoop)
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...0cars/my72.jpg
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...cars/my721.jpg
This next bunch of pictures show its stage after body work partially done,no engine, and as it basically sits today waiting its turn in the garage again.

I think this may be the first post of my truck since 2002. Not much has changed. Think I have added 2,000 miles and have done a ECE 2/4 drop. Just been gathering parts.

Here's some updated pics of my '69 C/10 with the new tires and 2/4 drop. I painted the Rally's and put on new Corvette beauty rings. The old pitted centers I had on there looked so bad that I decided to order a new set, so I'm waiting on those!;)

Your a lucky man having that 67 Black Short fleet. If I coulds find one like that at a fair market value I'd do whatever it took ( like dipping into the401k ) to buy it.

this is my 69 c-10 chevy truck...i had it for a bout 6 months and i am planing to do a lot to it...as of right now its just got a 350 sb...with a 2 barrel carb... stock mufflers...and some minor up grades... i have a new air intake... a few new seals on the engine... how ever i still have a small leak in one place...i was wondering if any one knew what this part was called and if oil was even support to be running throu it(its the fourth pic.) i dont know what part that is and what seal i need to fix it.

sorry the fourth pic was wrong but still the same place...heres a better one

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

Looks mainly like a heater core leak,no reason actual oil should be there, and since you dont have A/C it cant be a freon leak.
Nice clean truck by the way.

stonewall618 01-21-2008 05:52 PM

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

thanks... but i have checked the whole engine and there is no leak any were else...HOWEVER...there use to be a a/c in stalled originally...the old fart that i bought it from hand riped it out...so i just toke all the other parts with it out...but for some odd reason i lose about a qt of oil every week...and there is usually an oil puddle where ever i stop...so i know im not burning it...ill get more picks from where its coming from and post them may be some one can help me

If you start a thread on this you might get more responses since most people are coming here to look at pics.

Mine was doing that and I found that it was coming out of the dipstick tube and spraying over there.

Can you daily drive the truck with the floor removed like that? My floor is hooped and I would do that so I can sort out everything I need to do to replace the wood floor but I'd like to be able to drive the truck as well.

Check the breather and see if it is soaked...mine had bad upper rings before the rebuild and leaked oil in the exact same area.

Wow a black long box! Great looking, not to crazy for the red stripe. Is it the black paint or does the roof look slightly chopped?

I think that's really well proportioned. With the streched cab and unibody it looks better than the standard "Trazer" conversion to me. Is that a full shortbox? It's hard to tell with the chop.

2" chop cab stretched 5-1/2" and shortened longbox. Can't remember how much the box was sortened. Also has the tailgate angeled in 5*. The orange stripe looks a lot better in person and goes very well with the orange herring bone interior.
