I think it's a uni lug, it's got little washers that go in so I believe you can change the lug patter if you have the correct ones.

Are the holes oblong?

sorry for thread jacking 198. what rims are they the S/S or the 610? and how much did you spend for them if you dont mind. I need to sell mine. I have no use for them. The chrome is chipping off so they need to be blasted.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

Try PEP Boys. They might have them.

Went out tonight and changed my 6 lug rearend to my new 5 lug 3.07....God it's so much fun doing this by yourself and trying not to scratch it.

Guess I'll start the 5 lug swap next.......Looking real forward to getting the ball joint rivets out.

Went out this evening and started my cheap disc brake swap using 1987 spindles...... Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be getting the rivets out of the top ball joints....... The hard parts over with now it's all tore apart and ready for re-assembly.....Pics coming soon.

Well things aren't working out to good for me on my disc brake swap.......I guess the 87 spindles I bought are not 87's after I had them powder coated.......Wheel Bearing want fit......Backing plate hits lower a arm......What a pain in the A$$..........:smoke:

from 81-up there are 2 different spindles...one is for 1 inch rotors, and the other is for 1 1/4 inch rotors. the bearings don't inter-change

198plus 09-25-2009 12:28 AM

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

Thanks.........But the backing plate shouldn't be rubbing on the end of the lower control arm, that's why I think these are the wrong spindles...Maybe they are 1988 and up ??????????????

pics would help....my '80 with 1 1/4" rotors (73-80 are all 1 1/4") has a cut out in the backing plate where it meets the lower arm.

Do you have a pic or two?

Pics sometimes help to figure out what is what.

Have a question........If I use 2" drop springs for front will 4" drop springs in rear get the truck to set level.....Anyone have any pics of this combination

Thanks

I would like to know the same thing. I have already purchased this combo. I have installed the front, but the motor is out so I can't really tell the difference.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

Well I installed my engine tonight, headers fit like a glove........But problems exist :banghead:

I was trying to keep from moving engine forward to next set of holes, But my valve covers hit the firewall with these tall valve covers plus these aluminum heads have a 1/4" raised lip on them.........

I guess I'll use some short valve covers since these heads have the raised lips, they should clear the roller rockers.

Looks good, you could always dent the firewall in to clear.
