Monroe asked me what the last sticker meant and I told him it was my favorite. It's a C10 on a trailer, and the sticker says "this vehicle is not trailered", meaning if a show is 300 miles away, she gets driven 300 miles there and back. While I have a strong appreciation for the trailer queens, I just don't have the patience to keep a vehicle that clean.

Setting up. Monroe wasn't a whole lot of help, he couldn't swing a hammer or set up a chair. Poor little guy. He tried. So I just took his pic in front of the truck.

This was the most ridiculous truck there... the custom touches were too numerous to count. Even the inside of the bed was a work of art. I was too busy drooling to remember to snap pics, so I stole these from Matt's facebook page :)

After drooling over the cool stuff we headed over to watch the autocross for a while. Monroe wanted to play with my new telephoto lens. It gets pretty cool shots. These were both pretty dang far away!

...and I missed a few pics of our ride up because they somehow got put in the wrong folder. Argh. ...and it's been more than 30 minutes so I can't go back and edit...
I let Monroe hop behind the wheel and help me drive for a bit. I was a couple hour drive. We also spotted on of my favorite cars, a 67 firebird (with some 68 and 69 parts on it, both Camaro and Firebird)! We passed each other back and forth a few times, then the owner was behind me in line at registration. |

There was some awesome cars and some really awesome GM trucks at the autocross! Monroe and I really liked the Orange C10. |

Nearing the end of the day, they had two groups to get on the track, a 6PM and 7PM. Of course we got 7PM, so most people cleared out to get in line, so we went for a little ride around the infield in Matt's C10.
We saw a bunch more cool C10s, especially that first blue one! ;) |

Patiently waiting in line for our turn to tear it up!
While we waited we had a blast watching all the cool cars go by! They're blurry but we caught at least one burb and a C10! |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
It was finally OUR turn to tear up the track! Whoop!
While it doesn't look like we're going very fast, we were going 60+ most of the time and got up to near 90 a couple times. You'll see near the end the C10 I was with dropping to the apron (everyone was slowing down so I thought we were done. When they started speeding up I passed him and saw his nose was down. Damn! He apparently has a very slow leak and the fuse for the compressor blew. We limped it to a parts store up the road, new fuse, and we were on our way. https://youtu.be/eSmzCzfPFAs |

We stopped at a Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner (it was "meh") but Monroe didn't want to go in for some reason and stayed out in the truck. Weird.
Anyway, we made it home safe around 11:30 PM and turned in! |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Ha - Yall are cracking me up! It's sad that a rubber chicken has seen more cool stuff than me the last several months. Way to keep it all moving guys!

We had a day to relax (kinda) before Monroe had to leave. My wife is getting a little antsy to get "her" bathroom back, so I had Monroe help me out a bit.
I'm almost done, so he just helped me do a little nail hole filling/sanding and some taping. Don't feel bad for him. I had to make him do a little work. Good luck to everyone else that has him, but holy crap can he eat some chicken feed! |

To finish the day, we installed a new flange extension for the toilet because the new floor was leveled and "real" tile was used, which was a lot thicker than the walmart crap that was there before.

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Monroe is safe and sound and is headed out to Colorado. He seemed SUPER excited to be going to Colorado, He was clucking something about how green the grass is and something about an herb garden? I didn't quite understand...
We had a GREAT time. Everyone he met was a good sport about it after the initial... wtf is that? I will say this... DO NOT let him on your computer. When I checked the browser history there was all sorts of weird crap on there like chickswithbeaks.com, Ilikebigclucks.com, dirtybirds.com, thetwistedfeather.com, chickenortheegg.com, and downonthefarm.com. DO NOT go to any of those sites!!! |

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Monroe was just in time to help load the 67 on my trailer and head to the exhaust shop. Monroe wanted to ride to the shop in the 67, but I told him he had to ride in the Silverado with me.

Once we got to the shop, I met Travis the owner of "The Muffler Shop". Travis and I came up with a plan on getting the exhaust fixed on the 67. Also, Monroe got his way and got to take a ride in the 67. It was a short ride off the trailer and on to the lift.
|
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Looks like he enjoyed the ride .
|
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
With it getting to be early afternoon, I decided to take a walk for a quick bite to eat for lunch. When I got back to the shop, I realized I had left Monroe in the 67, so I headed into the shop.
