I'm going to look around to see if I can find pinion shims for our trucks, I would like to at least have 2 degrees.
I picked up a 700R4 on the cheap so I'm keeping the 4.11s and gonna put the trans in, kind of a simple swap, her trans is a long tail shaft, I only have to move the crossmember back and a few simple other things, it puts the final drive at 2.88. I'll keep you guys posted.
Jason

I have several sets if you want to test what might work best before purchasing & I'm near Kellers in Dallas. I believe I have 2, 2.5, 3, & 4° pairs.

Awesome!! I think its really close now, I ordered the parts today to do the trany swap, so I'm going to measure everything after I put the 700 in. Hoping to do it sometime next week. She has a photo shoot with the truck Saturday!! I also ordered 66 Truck Plates today, and dropped it off at a lock smith so I can get door keys for her!!!

My wife, Trish is the same way about her LeMans. With the exception that she did put a price on it so ridiculously high that if anyone were to pay it, we would be insane not to accept it.
Before we got the restoration done on it, she would quote them $50k, now she says for $100k she will toss them the keys.

Nice to know some of us on this site have more in common than just old trucks we are building, like the women we share our lives with.... :metal:

Got all the parts to do the trany swap, going to try and get it done in the next few weeks!! But I got the title transfer done today and the truck registered with 66 plates. Walking in with a orginal title issued in 74 seamed to cause some problems on top of 66 plates.
As far as shows, she plans on hitting up a many as she can next year!!

Re: Maggie's Custom

Amazing truck. I'm a fan of the all original layed out look myself. Did you have any issues with the trailing arms twisting at all with the bags mounted up further? I'm gonna be doing the same with mine, right now they're in the stock locations but its not low enough for me. Just want to make sure before I do. Do you have any pics how you mounted them on the frame?

I got to looking at the pinion angle and it had a bunch of postive angle, I was reaching but I wanted to fix it, when I went to pull the blocks out I noticed the trailing are twisted because of the bag placement, really the first time I had been under the truck with air in the bags. I didn't change the bushing and saw the arms were tounching the cross member, made a nice little shinny spot, I'm pretty sure this is the problem, new bushing on the way, gonna go with polyurethane.

We ahead and pied the block to correct the pinion angle, I'm sure this was not needed, but I wanted it right.

Use the Polyurethane bushings and you will be fine, but yes, they do twist.

:chevy:great pics.
Can't wait to get mine on the road. Before I tore it all down. Mine had a 700r4 in it and. It went down the road at 70mph turning 2100rpms. I have 3.73 or 4.11s not sure but what a smooth ride. And 20 mpg on top of it. I'm planning a bowtie overdrive stage 2 700r4 this time since I upped the HP over the last motor.

Again nice build, and happy holidays

Yes, that was the orginal plan, but we love the patina on them. So I have something else up my sleeve!! Funny you should ask.
