I had been wondering about you. Had not seen you on here recently. Do you have a complete interior install pic yet?

I'm leaning towards buying my buddies mild 350. Just put a lot of cosmetic polished parts on it. I have a Chevelle project that I'd like to pull to local cruise ins and I think the V8 would pull it better.

Hey man, I hadn't gotten on much lately. The truck is still at the paint shop so I hadn't got to install the interior yet.

Well I finally got my truck back from the paint shop. I need to have my radiator flushed this weekend and then time to start installing some interior!

I'll try and get more pics today. Looks like the rain has gone away soI should be able to get more pics.

When I first went to Jodeez I thought that he was going to be a jerk. He seemed arrogant and cocky but turned out to be a nice guy. I'll use him again for my next project that's for sure.

Yeah we can get a good video of it. Took the truck out and washed it last night then cruised around town for a bit.

Thanks man. It's crazy how when the light hits the paint just right it looks like all one color and then other times you can see the 2 tone paint real good.

My original plan was to swap it out to an automatic but I have decided to leave it in. I bought a 350 attached to a 700r4 but will probably just give the auto to my dad.

Can I get some pics of the cab trim under back glass, and the exact method, tools and products you used?

Saw the truck last weekend at O'Reillys. Wouldve stopped but was running behind. Looks sharp

Re: Project Platinum C10

And if you need a place and help to swap in the 350, holla. We doin em all the time here at Boudreaux's Garage lol

I may have missed it but have you sropped by the old man's house to show him the truck?

I send the previous owner or mine pics every few years, to show the upgrades. He is hella jealous but didn't have the money nor skill to do it

Yeah I seen you pulling out when I was pulling in.
Here are the steps that I took. Just make sure you sand in the same direction every time.

120 grit flapper wheel in drill, 320g hand sanded, 600g hand sanded, 800g wet sand, 1500g wet sanded, 2000g wet sanded and then polished out with some Mothers polish. Then I hit with the 2000 grit wet sand again and polish with Mothers polish to finish it out. It took me about 12 hours to do the cab trim so it's a lot of work!

I'm not planning on doing the engine swap anytime soon. I need to paint the engine and brackets and the engine bay so it'll be awhile before I make the swap.

I hadn't taken the truck back by there but have thought about it though. Not sure what he would think.

Re: Project Platinum C10

Can you give me an idea of what you reused after paint, like mirrors, door locks, handles, etc?

Im planning on a

new front bumper, since someone backed into the new one i already have
new fenderwell trim
new trim around all doors fender and bed
New weatherstripping for front and rear glass
reuse new windshield, reuse rear glass
new side window felt runner kit
New trim pieces for under taillights
new vent window seals
new trim around grille and a few other things.

About $1,000 in that stuff.

Plan on reusing door handles and locks, the cab trim (may even polish it like you did) rear bumper, mirrors. I cant find the silverado 20 emblems for the side of the fenders.

Any tips?

Sodell 04-21-2014 09:24 PM

Re: Project Platinum C10

I would recommend these guys if replacing the vent window seals..I rebuilt mine if you would like to look in my thread. I painted mine with basecoat clearcoat as well, may want to have your body shop paint the parts after you get them apart.

You can also polish and reuse your drip rails, and the front grill stainless.

Also check to see if you have the two piece or one piece, as far as I can tell its not to year specific.

Re: Project Platinum C10

Here is a list:

Reused:

Stainless trim around grille (polished it up)
stainless drip rails (polished it up)
grille
headlight bezels
door locks (polished up)
cab trim (polished up)
front windshield
rear windshield
driver/passenger glass
side marker lights

New:

Front Bumper
Rear Bumper
rear bumper brackets
door handles
mirrors
door weatherstriping
front/back window seals
driver/passenger window channel and felt runners
fender trim
belt molding (Trim that wraps around the truck)
trim under tail lights
tail lights
replaced the dull headlights

I didn't reuse the stock fender emblems but instead had some made by Billet Badges online. I haven't done the vent windows yet but they are on my to do list. I would suggest to follow Sodell's lead on those as his turned out awesome! That's what I plan to do. I am sure I have missed a few things on the list up top, lol

The back glass trim corners have a nut behind them. Up above where the factory speakers would be. You will have to reach up in there to feel it. After you get the corners off then the long piece of trim slides either way. Just pull it towards one side of the truck or the other. Nothing to unbolt there.

I thought the trim under the tail lights was a pita to get off on my truck. There was one nut on one end of the trim and a clip that you slid the trim off of after you get the nut off of.
