That's partly why I cover mine up and to keep the flying crap off it when we work on something else. Ha, years ago I covered the front of my black 68 GMC that was parked right outside the garage with Chevrolet orange overspray!

The PS lines were built by a forum member. they are for a SBC. I did have to relax a bend on the hi pressure line to the pump. I made a fitting to go from the metric PS pump to SAE flare of the hose. He made the lines with Stainless steel ends.

It'd be a awesome if you could look, Im looking for different options to choose from and then see what's easiest/cheapest to find here in Sweden :)

Ok back to the hulk build! Loaded up the can and dropped it off at the body shop. He told me he would have the body work, undercoating, and firewall painted in about a month. That will be awesome.
Here are a few pictures we took of the cab on the rotisserie loaded up ready to deliver.

Since I had room in my shop I got the bed put on the cart and brought inside and thought "what the heck, let's get the gas door mocked up"
The gas door is from a Sonoma Blazer.

Turned out pretty good I think! I will be cutting the inside and installing the boot (plastic piece the filler neck attachs to) and will finish up the piping when I put the bed on the truck for mock up.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Congrats on getting the cab out for paint it's going to be sharp! Good job on the filler door Scott that looks great. Is the bed going out for paint when the cab gets back?

First c10 12-31-2016 12:49 PM

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Thanks Brett. Yes I'm going to fix what I can on the bed and get it mocked up on the frame so I can get the filler pipe ready to go. After that I will take it to him and have him do the bodywork on it Paint the front panel etc. I will end up mocking up the whole truck before I blow it apart and have it painted at the same time. The three stage paint adds a little complexity to it so I am going with what my paint guy says. I don't know painting that well

Thanks Mike. Happy new year!
What was your donor gas door from? Min was a sonoma blazer.

I agree the first time I cut on a vehicle I was nervous also. It was my 56 chevy. I cut the cowl area. These were not repopped peices. But went fine.

So worked on the gas door some more. Well after I added 10 double 46" t5HO floresent lights in my shop. No more shadows. :metal:

It was out of an S10, basically the same, one thing I found out is that s10's had 2 different fill tube diameters 1 3/4 and 2", needless to say if ya can use the 2". I had to modify mine to get the bends correct. Also keep the vent tube and don't let it have a low spot because eventually you will get gas pooled up in it then when you fill the tank the gas won't flow into the tank without burping.

Finished welding up the fuel door. Mocked up the filler neck and test fit the fill tube.
I will need to put the bed on the frame to be sure.

Worked on the passenger side of the bed. Not in good shape. It has body filler on most of the passenger side and the tail light area is bad. Pro ably going to try and find a good bed side or a repop. Anyone have one laying around??? Lol.

Custom labels!!! Truck would be nothing without them.
I am going to contact my body guy and have him look at it. 600$ for a bed side damn!!!

Gas door looks great! I see you shortened the filler tube, did you water test it?, don't want any leaks.

Don’t know how bad the rest of the bedside is but original stuff is supposed to fit way better (patch panels?).

If your painter is like my friends he’ll tell ya, the bigger the glob the better the job, then start laughing! :jest:

I agree Brett I will have him give me his opinion.

Attached are a few pictures he sent me. He said that I did a great job on the metal work. He said he didn't have to do much. Just a tap or two and a light skim coat.

A color change has also happened. The Tri-coat paint color I think was a little much.
What do you think?
Also I think we will be going with no side models just the front and tailgate areas.

Beauty! :uhmk: It'll look great w/o trim and probably easier to live with also.

Thanks Brett

I made a stop by my local wrecking yard. Found a 72 c20 Cheyenne lwb.
It was hit on the passenger side front. Bent the hood, pass fender, frame, etc

I was able to get the seat belts, ac vents, head liner and trim, visors, coat hook, brake master support brackets, and back of cab paint divider for $100.

Have a chance to get the wood bed which is in great shape with tail gate. It has a dent on the driver side front of tire. Nothing bad. Trim is even in great shape.

Worth 400$ ?

The picture you can see the bed is tweaked a little. It is all frame I think.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

Score on your parts, looks like that was a pretty nice ¾ ton. Bed looks to be in great shape from your pics and a good price as well. Hopefully, nothing is hiding under that paint (especially the right side), I’d go for it, pull the trim, strip it and use the best parts making a real nice wood bed. :ito:

So after getting the pictures of the cab it lite a fire under me to get the fenders out and the grill assembly.
The fenders only have 1 dent in each. Not bad for 49 year old fenders.

The grill assembly I disassembled. Not to bad either. I chased the nuts that are welded to the fenders and grill and all were in great shape. Just a little wd40 and a thread chaser.

When the cab is ready we will be getting it on the frame to install and adjust the doors and mock up the rest of the sheetmetal.

So it looks like I am getting a wood floor bed pictured in a earlier post. So now I have to put the fuel filler in the taillight. I don't want to cut a hole in the side and floor.

The fender bottom closest to the door looks like it was cut with a hacksaw. Should I weld this up and maybe install the missing metal?
Or it in ok this way. The other fender looks about the same so I am not sure how much material was trimmed off.
Anyone know or have a picture?

Thank you Nitis. Great info. I have text him to see if he is interested in selling the passenger side if it is for a steel bed.

How is your truck coming along?

Update. They are sold already. Damn.

I thought "what the hell" and ordered a Hayden Transmission cooler. Its not a large one but something is better than nothing.
I made a bracket with standoffs and will mock up and powder coat at a later date.
now I will run the lines to the passenger side and drill a hole in the radiator support under the battery box.... like the A/C lines.

I got a call from the body shop. Cab is ready to be picked up and put on the frame.
So tonight I worked on getting the trans lines installed. I am using Russell powerflex. It is the same line they use for power steering lines.

I think it can handle more psi than the proflex line.
We will see.

I ordered a larger grommet to run the trans lines through the radiator support be here Tuesday so I can finish up the route of the lines.

I just need to put a clamp to secure the lines in the frame

Trans cooler looks good. What lower radiator hose did you use. I having a hard time finding one that works.

Very nice plumbing Scott, I would think the smaller new style high fin count cooler will do a really good job vs a radiator only cooler. :ito:
